Jamestown (CSi) Interstate Engineering reports the newly installed road between Menard’s and Jamestown Regional Medical Center will be open for traffic starting Thursday morning, November 16, 2017, at 8-a.m.
Earlier this week officials told CSiNewsNow.com that the lighting project was expected to be finished by Wednesday evening.
With that now completed the roadway is set to open, including the first two lifts of pavement which have been striped.
The remaining asphalt lifts will be installed next spring, and then restriped.
The project included installing infrastructure to a portion of the area, for future development in the area.
Menards officials are offering a portion of their property for sale to interested developers.
Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Public Works informs residents, that City Street Department crews will be working throughout the city trimming trees & shrubbery in alleyways in anticipation of the recycling program to prevent interference with maintenance equipment. Trees must be trimmed up to 16 feet high.
The city points out that it is the homeowner’s responsibility to maintain the trees and shrubbery adjacent to the alley ways. When this responsibility is neglected, it becomes the duty of the City to clear overgrowth that threatens public safety.
This is a clearance procedure and should not be mistaken for a complete pruning of trees and/or shrubbery. That procedure should be done by a local tree service.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota legislative leaders will review anti-sexual harassment policies for state lawmakers.
The Legislative Procedure and Arrangements Committee will meet Dec. 6 at the Capitol to discuss the policies that have been in place for almost 30 years.
Republican House Majority Leader Al Carlson of Fargo heads the bipartisan committee of legislative leaders. He says the time is right to review — and perhaps update — the state’s polices since many allegations of sexual harassment are coming to light in political and entertainment circles.
Carlson and other North Dakota legislative leaders say they are not aware of any sexual harassment allegations ever occurring in the Legislature.
Carslon says sexual harassment won’t be tolerated.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota National Guard soldiers who served 10 months in Afghanistan are returning to the state.
About 60 members of the Bismarck-based 136th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion flew into Fort Hood in Texas last Friday to go through the demobilization process.
The soldiers are returning home to North Dakota on several flights Wednesday and Thursday. They’re flying into Bismarck, Fargo, Grand Forks and Devils Lake.
FORTUNA, N.D. (AP) — This year’s drought in North Dakota has stalled the full reclamation of a Cold War-era military facility in the northwest corner of the state.
The Fortuna Air Force Station’s reclamation process is nearly complete. Dozens of buildings have been demolished, and materials have been recycled and removed.
But full reclamation depends on grass seeding of an inert waste disposal pit.
The Bismarck Tribune reports that the state Department of Health won’t close the disposal until grass grows on top of it.
Seeding in July didn’t take because of the drought. Workers have seeded again and cleaning up the area. Full reclamation is expected in 2018.
The base was used as a radar facility during the Cold War but abandoned in 1984. The only remaining building is a five-story radar tower.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Department of Transportation is adding 32 new snow plows meant to make clearing the roads more efficient.
KFGO radio reports that the new equipment combines the traditional front plow with a tow plow, which is pulled behind the truck.
The new plows can clear a much wider path through snow and also apply brine solution to the roadway.
The new plows will be deployed at all eight of the state’s DOT offices.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — State regulators say human error caused a pipeline spill that leaked more than 11,000 gallons (42,000 liters) of oilfield wastewater in western North Dakota.
The Bismarck Tribune reports that the spill in Dunn County on Sunday was reported by Crestwood Midstream.
Department of Mineral Resources spokeswoman Alison Ritter says crews forgot to close a valve on the pipeline, which caused the produced water spill.
Produced water is a mixture of saltwater and oil that can contain drilling chemicals.
Regulators say the spill was contained within a pipeline trench and most of it had been recovered by Monday.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The United Way is helping close an emergency housing gap in Bismarck since the city’s lone men’s emergency shelter closed late last month.
Missouri Slope Areawide United Way Executive Director Jena Gullo tells The Bismarck Tribune that the organization has provided 150 nights of shelter for 46 people deemed to be in crisis. Shelters in Minot and Grand Forks also have offered to help.
The Ruth Meiers Hospitality House closed its men’s emergency shelter Oct. 27, following financial management problems. The closure forced many homeless men back onto the street.
Efforts are still underway to open a temporary shelter for winter in Bismarck-Mandan, but community leaders have struggled to identify a location and an agency to operate it. Gullo estimates it would cost $90,000 to run a shelter through April.

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — The chairman of the African Union Commission has told reporters in Washington that Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe and his wife are “safe in the country.” The comments by Moussa Faki Mahamat at the National Press Club were shared on Twitter by a spokeswoman for the continental body. MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby says he will write in the name of a Republican who is not Roy Moore in next month’s special election. Shelby told reporters on Wednesday that there is little recourse to stop Moore even if the state GOP’s executive committee asked him to leave.
RANCHO TEHAMA RESERVE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say no one reported a domestic violence incident that they believe set a man off on a shooting rampage in Northern California that left five people dead. Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston says neighbors heard a disturbance at the home of Kevin Janson Neal on Monday night but that no one called authorities. He says investigators found the body of Neal’s wife hidden under the floor.
LUCASVILLE, Ohio (AP) — The lawyer for a condemned Ohio inmate whose execution was called off says his client is happy to be alive. Attorney David Stebbins said death row prisoner Alva Campbell called Wednesday a day he’ll never forget. Stebbins said he doesn’t know what will happen next, but says Campbell’s health problems and poor veins are a continuing problem. The state’s execution team couldn’t find a vein on Campbell to insert an IV. Campbell was to be executed for a carjack killing two decades ago.
