FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Two people have been arrested for a shooting at an apartment building in Fargo.

Several apartments were evacuated late Sunday night after shots were fired in one unit. The Red River Regional SWAT team was called after a couple in the apartment where the shots were fired refused to come out.

KFGO says multiple bullet holes were found in the apartment and in the door of an apartment across the hall. A 31-year-old woman who lives in the apartment and a 31-year-old man eventually surrendered.

Police have not said what motivated the gunfire.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota State University police are investigating some acts of vandalism at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex and elsewhere on campus.

Authorities say four large windows at the complex were broken with shots from a BB or pellet gun. Also three bus stops on campus were damaged by a similar gun.

Police say the person or people responsible could face felony charges because the damage is in the thousands of dollars.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The chancellor of the North Dakota University System is denying allegations of discrimination and harassment by a former vice chancellor.

Chancellor Mark Hagerott tells The Associated Press that he “strongly disagrees” with the complaint filed this month by Lisa Feldner. Hagerott says the allegations are a “distraction” from the business of education.

State Board of Higher Education Chairman Don Morton says he also “strongly disagrees” with Feldner’s accusations.

Hagerott fired Feldner in September but gave no reason.

Feldner’s 17-page complaint to the state Labor Department details several allegations against her former boss that she said created a hostile work environment.

Feldner says several women complained about Hagerott touching them, but not in a sexual manner. Feldner accuses him of patting women like “children or pets” in a “condescending” manner.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A Crookston, Minnesota, woman will serve nearly six years in prison for trying to cover up a killing at a North Dakota truck stop.

U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson also on Monday ordered 33-year-old Lorie Ortiz placed on three years of supervised release after she serves her prison time.

Ortiz was charged as an accessory after the fact in the shooting death of 24-year-old Austin Forsman. Forsman was shot as he sat in his vehicle outside the Flying J Truck Stop in Grand Forks in March 2016.

Authorities say the killing was drug-related and the investigation resulted in 13 indictments in federal court. Authorities say Ortiz was involved in destroying or attempting to destroy evidence, namely cellphones, in an effort to help participants in the killing.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The Bismarck area is becoming a hot spot for microbreweries in central North Dakota.

Bismarck, Mandan and the surrounding area could be home to six of the state’s nearly 20 microbreweries by next year.

The craft beer industry is also increasing demand for locally grown ingredients.

Bismarck-based Two Track Malting Company started making craft malt barley in June 2016. It now has a waitlist and recently doubled its production from 5 tons (about 4.5 metric tons) of malt each week to 10 tons (about 9 metric tons).

Ted Hoffman founded the North Dakota Brewers Guild. He says bars are now asking for 5-gallon (19-liter) kegs rather than 16-gallon (61-liter) kegs because they want to put more beers on tap from the growing number of local craft breweries.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota’s superintendent is asking teachers statewide to review academic standards for science, health, early learning and the arts as the process for drafting new benchmarks gets underway.

The process of updating those standards is expected to last until next fall. The standards are measurements of what students are expected to know and be able to do as they progress through elementary, middle and high school.

State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler is asking teachers who specialize in science, health, the arts or early learning to apply to serve on one of the four content committees that will draft standards. Applications for the positions are on the Department of Public Instruction’s website.

The fight was a continuation of a dispute that started last season when Talib ripped Crabtree’s chain off during the season finale. Talib once again ripped Crabtree’s chain off his neck and took Crabtree’s helmet off before throwing it.

In world and national news…

WASHINGTON (AP) — Two Republican senators now say they oppose the GOP tax bill the way it’s written. Senators Steve Daines of Montana and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin say the tax bill favors large corporations over small businesses. Republicans have only two votes to spare in the Senate, where they hold a 52-48 edge and anticipate Vice President Mike Pence breaking a tie.

YANGON, Myanmar (AP) — Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslims and human rights groups say they’re disappointed Pope Francis didn’t use the term “Rohingya” in his speech to Myanmar’s leadership. Phil Robertson, deputy director of Human Rights Watch’s Asia division, said the pope missed an opportunity Tuesday since he had previously used the term that affirms the rights of Rohingya to self-identity.

HYDERABAD, India (AP) — Ivanka Trump is headlining a business conference in India whose focus on female entrepreneurs raises questions about some of the commercial decisions made by Trump and her famous namesake brand. Critics have faulted her for failing to use her leadership role to call out labor and human rights abuses, particularly in China, where the bulk of her U.S. merchandise ships from. And they point out that she has failed to take a public stand on alleged abuses in her brand’s own supply chain.

HOMEWOOD, Ala. (AP) — “Reliable” GOP voters will determine whether Republican Roy Moore or Democrat Doug Jones wins on Dec. 12. While Moore needs evangelicals to show up at the polls and Jones will rely heavily on black Democrats, a large swath of Alabama Republicans – typically Christian and conservative – holds the key to victory for both. But that’s a tough call for those who are uncomfortable with Moore but not willing to vote Democrat.

BEIRUT (AP) — Syria has a confounding array of local militias and thousands of foreign troops in the country even though the civil war is winding down. And some of those forces may never leave. Now that the Islamic State group no longer holds any significant urban territory in Syria, the numbers of some troops may be scaled down, but foreign powers with longer-term ambitions and interests will try to maintain a presence for years to come.
