Jamestown  (JRMC) — Having healthcare close to home is important to one local bank.

Gate City Bank in Jamestown donated $25,000 to Jamestown Regional Medical Center’s Cancer Center in an effort to reduce travel and increase access to state-of-the-art care.

Gate City Bank, Vice president and office manager Scott Hare says, “We are proud to invest in a project that helps create a better way of life in our community. Having healthcare locally is such an important part of our community.”

Gate City’s gift names a chemotherapy infusion room. Once operational, the JRMC Cancer Center will offer chemotherapy services to more than 100 Stutsman Country residents each month. Currently, those residents travel about 100 miles each way for that care. As of November, the JRMC Foundation had raised more than $1 million of its $1.5 million goal, said Lisa Jackson, JRMC Foundation Director.

Gate City AVP/senior customer service and sales supervisor, Michelle Neumiller, says,  “It’s difficult to drive miles for care, especially when you don’t feel well. ‘

In this unique partnership, office services manager/security officer, Jay C. Krabbenhoft, will help curate the art for the JRMC Cancer Center. Like the rest of the art in the facility, the JRMC Cancer Center will feature local artists and North Dakota within a healing environment.

He says“We are dedicated to creating a healing environment for everyone involved, including the people working, those receiving care, and those supporting loved ones in the cancer center.”
