Jamestown  (CSi)  The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to McElroy Park about 3:55-p.m., Thursday, near the walking bridge, where a vehicle slide off the roadway and  hit a tree, during icy conditions.  The tree prevented the truck from sliding further to the James River.

Smoke or steam was reported coming from the vehicle.

Lt. Sheldon Mohr says the pickup was considered totaled.

Fire fighters doused the vehicle with water and disconnected the battery.

It’s not know if the vehicle occupants were injured.

Four city fire units and 20 fire fighters were on the scene about 20 minutes.
