Jamestown (CSi)  The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce has announced a partnership with CGI Communications, Inc., to create a series of professionally produced online videos to highlight everything the community offers residents, visitors and business owners.

Chamber Executive Becky Thatcher-Keller says, in addition to creating the video, CGI is ensuring that they are seen.  Mobile devices have shifted the landscape of business making it more important that ever to embrace technology as resident of Jamestown are able to stream high-quality video on every device.

She says, for many businesses, getting noticed on line can be a challenge, however, utilizing video dramatically improves visibility and drives more action to a website, than static pages, with the demand for video climbing even higher for users on mobile devices. She goes on to say that today, mobile usage has surpassed desktop usage and that number continues to climb.

With an easily viewable interface on the official Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce website, this video program will encourage viewers to learn more about area attractions, economic development opportunities, quality of life, and business supporting the program.  In addition, the Chamber’s official website will backlink to CGI’s website which hosts the video tour.

Becky encourages businesses and entities to consider participating in the town-wide program as it provides an exciting opportunity to showcase businesses and utilize the power of video on their websites and social media pages.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota’s first family won’t be moving in to the new governor’s mansion by the new year.

Capitol Facilities Manager John Boyle says officials had hoped for Gov. Doug Burgum to move into a new home by the end of December. But he says construction of the new 13,600-square-foot home is running behind schedule and the new completion date is now set for late February.

Officials originally had a goal of completing the new home by Thanksgiving.

The Legislature authorized $4 million in state money and $1 million from private donations to construct the building.

Bismarck businessman Jim Poolman is heading a group to raise private money. He says about $900,000 has been raised to date.

Boyle says the old governor’s mansion will be torn down in the spring.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota health officials have unveiled new immunization requirements for children in schools and child care facilities.

The changes take effect during the 2018 school year and include requiring an additional dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine in grades 11 and 12. Lexie Barber with the state health department tells the Bismarck Tribune that 16- and 17-year-olds in North Dakota have low vaccination rates for the second dose — about 30 percent.

Starting Jan. 1, all children attending child care in the state will need a hepatitis B vaccine. Before, only children starting school needed the vaccine.

The deadline for students to comply with new requirements or be excluded from school is Oct. 1.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Officials say mountain lion hunting is closed in southwestern North Dakota because limits have been reached.

The state Game and Fish Department says the early season limit was set at either seven total mountain lions or three female cats. A conditional season in that part of the state will open Thursday and continue until March 31 or until two mountains are killed.

The mountain lion season in the rest of the state has no harvest limit and is open through March 31.

In world and national news…

CAIRO (AP) — A gunman on a motorcycle opened fire outside a church in a Cairo suburb, sparking a shootout that killed at least nine people, including eight Coptic Christians. It was the latest attack targeting Egypt’s embattled Christian minority. Authorities say the gunman was also killed, along with at least one police officer.

BOSTON (AP) — The frigid conditions in Boston are taking their toll on the nation’s fifth-largest transit system. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has spent heavily to winterize what’s known as the “T” since it was crippled by record-breaking snowfall in 2015. But the agency reported “severe delays” on one of its lines Friday, citing a broken piece of track and a disabled train among other problems.

NEW YORK (AP) — A woman, her two daughters and a niece are among the dozen victims of a fire that raced through a century-old New York City apartment building. Officials have not released the identities of the victims of the Thursday night blaze, but Ambrozia Stewart told several news outlets they include her youngest daughter and three granddaughters. Stewart moved to the United States from Jamaica in the 1980s.

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump is returning to a favorite target of his, saying that Amazon.com should be charged more by the U.S. Postal Service for the packages it sends around the world. Amazon has been a consistent recipient of Trump’s ire. In a tweet Friday, Trump said Amazon should be charged “MUCH MORE” because the post office loses money each year while making “Amazon richer.”

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The bitterly cold weather that is in store for large areas of the eastern United States this weekend is giving President Donald Trump another chance to question climate change. He tweeted that Eastern states “could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming.” Trump has called global warming a “hoax.” In his tweet, Trump failed to note the difference between the weather and the climate. Weather refers to short-term atmospheric conditions, whereas climate is a long view of weather patterns.
