BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Snow, wind and bitter cold in North Dakota.

Northeastern North Dakota is under a blizzard warning, and the rest of the state is under either a winter storm warning or advisory.

The National Weather Service says the storm could drop half a foot of snow in some areas, and winds gusting to 40 mph will blow it around and make travel hazardous. The state Transportation Department has begun issuing travel alerts for some areas.

Wind chills overnight are expected to drop as low as minus 30 degrees.

The Bismarck-based University of Mary has canceled evening classes at locations in Bismarck, Fargo, Grand Forks and Watford City.
