TWINS…
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Right-handed reliever Addison Reed and Minnesota have finalized a $16.75 million, two-year contract, putting another pitcher with closing experience in the back of the Twins’ bullpen. The Twins agreed to a deal with right-hander Fernando Rodney in the offseason. Reed has 125 saves in seven major league seasons. He started last season with the New York Mets, then was traded to Boston. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2010 and took over the ninth inning for them two years later.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Justin Morneau, the 2006 American League MVP and Minnesota Twins first baseman whose career was derailed by concussion symptoms, is retiring. Morneau had 1,603 hits and 247 home runs in 14 major league seasons. The Twins scheduled a farewell news conference for this week. Morneau was a four-time All-Star before a head injury in 2010.
NFL-NEWS
UNDATED (AP) — The Tennessee Titans are parting with head coach Mike Mularkey just a week after controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk said he would be back next season.
Strunk says in a statement they discussed extending his contract during the past week, but that each side saw a different path to take the team to greater success.
Mularkey took over as interim head coach in 2015 and revived a team with the NFL’s worst record over two seasons. He led the Titans to their first playoff victory in 14 years before losing to the Patriots 35-14 on Saturday.
Mularkey was 20-21 at Tennessee, including a pair of 9-7 seasons after becoming the permanent head coach in January 2016.

UNDATED (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have finally pulled off a trade involving center fielder Andrew McCutchen.
The Bucs have shipped McCutchen to the Giants for right-hander Kyle Crick, minor league outfielder Bryan Reynolds and $500,000 in international signing bonus allocation. The move comes two days after the Pirates sent ace pitcher Gerrit Cole to the Astros.
The 2013 National League MVP takes over in center from Denard Span, who was dealt to the Rays in the Evan Longoria deal. The durable McCutchen has played at least 153 games in each of the past three seasons for the Pirates, batting .279 with 28 home runs and 88 RBIs in 156 games in 2017. But he has not been an All-Star since 2015, when he was selected for the fifth straight season.
