Myron “Mike” Hinger, 77, Medina, ND, died Weds, January 17, at the Prince of Peace Care Center.

Celebrating the life of Myron (Mike) Hinger. Mike Tracy Hinger, 77, was born May 12th 1940 on the family homestead north of Pettibone ND. He was the son of William and Sarah (Thiesen) Hinger. As a child he attended grade school in Pettibone and high school at Cheyenne River Academy in Harvey ND.

Mike lived a full and adventurous life. He married the beautiful woman (Arvadell Koenig) on Oct 16th of 1959 and moved to Riverside CA. A few years later they moved back to ND to the small but quaint town of Medina ND. Together they raised four boys (Brent, Keith, Ward, and John).

Mike contributed significantly to the community in which he lived, worked and played. He had a strong reputation for the excellent work he did in landscaping/construction. An entrepreneur at a young age, Mike launched Hinger Construction LLC around 1966; it was highly successful in every aspect. Owning heavy equipment associated with landscaping work (bull dozers, scrapers, draglines etc.) he was well known for his artistic work in building stock ponds and land improvement to enhance ranching and farming. He also conducted roadwork and contracted with various coal mines in ND who required the unique services his company offered. His reputation for being an honest business man who provided an exceptional value was known throughout the state of North Dakota.

Mike had a passion for nature. His section farm outside of Medina was well-groomed and home to an abundance of wildlife. Mike developed two beautiful ponds in which he raised -trophy size rainbow trout. He also loved motorcycles and auto restoration. He had a nice collection of Harley Davidson motorcycles and autos. He had a 1963 stingray corvette, 57 Ford hard top convertible, 1953 Chrysler and his grandfather’s 1929 Chevy.

Mike also gave back to the community in which he loved. He was active for many years in the Cleveland SDA Church. He was known for being very benevolent in both his church and community, touching many lives in a very positive way. He had a love for music and was specially gifted as a pianist. He played in a band during his younger years and later at home for personal enjoyment. His favorite song is Jesus Loves Me sung by Joe Schmidt – Joe is a vocalist/musician who resides in Medina.

Mike is preceded in death by his father William; mother Sarah and siblings; Roger, Shirley, and Jim Hinger.

Mike is survived by his wife, Arvadell; sons; Brent (Stephanie), Keith (Sandy), Ward (Cristin) and John; sister Shari Meier and brother Larry Hinger. He was blessed to have two granddaughters and one grandson (Lacey, Shelby and Seth) and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Mike’s honor on May 12th, 2018, from 3:30 to 5:30pm, at the Jamestown SDA Church – Jamestown ND. If interested in attending, we would appreciate you calling 541.200.5543 to RSVP for this very special event.
