Ruth Marie Anderson of Valley City, North Dakota, passed away under the care of the exceptional staff of Mercy Hospital, on January 2, 2018 from complications of pneumonia. Ruth was 86, born June 25th, 1931. It was the first full super moon of 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, her husband Harley J Anderson, son Dr. Douglas J Anderson and daughter Delian R Anderson. She is survived by her Daughter, Peggy Marie Northup, Peggy’s husband, Richard Northup of Punta Gordo, Florida, Ruth’s son Charles Morris Anderson, his wife Nancy Johnston of Scottsdale, Arizona, Ruth’s brother and sister in law, Allan and Della Anderson, sister in laws Carolyn and Frida Vanthuyne and sisters Rosalie and Jean, brother Bud and many friends and countless grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruth was a firecracker in life, but with a caring heart of gold. she resided at Sheyenne Care Center, where she left an impression that, even as her health deteriorated, she just kept going, like the everyready bunny. She could tell a fib better than most but only if it helped someone she loved. She spent most of her life in North Dakota, as a sales clerk and even ran for mayor of Jamestown! She had an open-door policy, always ready to listen, not always giving advice, but listening. Although she encountered enormous struggles in life, like her 65-year marriage to Harley, cancer and the deaths of a son and daughter, she did not complain that she was somehow missing something that others had. She could marvel at the light emanating from a simple glass bead, this and a million other treasures that she kept, always thinking that someone in the family could use them one day. Our hearts are broken but it was for all who knew her “A life well done”. Heaven best be ready for this fe isty little lady.

A memorial service and burial is planned for June 25th, 2018 at Lake View Cemetery, Marion, ND at 3 pm.
