Dorothy Joyce Sinclair, 77, of Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 following a sudden return of cancer.

Her family is grateful for the experience and loving care she received while at Ave Marie Village.

No services will be held at this time.

Mrs. Sinclair was born Dorothy Joyce Ronngren, April 4, 1940, to Helmer and Julia (Romelfanger) of Jamestown. Helmer passed away before Dorothy was born; and in September 1943 Julia married Harry Schultz who was the only father Dorothy had known. To her two sisters, Betty and Sis’ (Eileen); two brothers, Bud’ (Edward) and John; and seven step-sisters and brothers, Dorothy had always been called by her middle name Joyce, which is who we all know her as today.

She was married to her first love, Charles Sinclair of Cleveland on November 11, 1955, where they made their home and raised three children: Kathryn (David) Fleming of Warwick, John (Cindy) of Jamestown and David (Shelly) of West Fargo. She was an active member of United Methodist Church in Cleveland for nearly 60 years but has now been attending St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Jamestown.

Her 25-year employment with Jamestown Hospital was her badge of honor and accomplishment. She welcomed the challenge of each department she worked in and loved the people she worked with and served. She loved volunteering at Ave Maria, sewing, embroidery, reading, coffee time with her neighbors and sharing solar powered movable window toys with friends and family.

Survivors include her three children; one sister, Eileen Thorn of Oakdale, CA; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.

As was her request, a private family graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens is being planned for this spring. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to Ave Maria Village of Jamestown. Arrangements are in the care of Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Graveside Service: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND in the spring.
