Jamestown (CSi)  a 31 year old man led authorities on a pursuit through portions of Jamestown early Saturday morning.

Jamestown Police Lt. Justine Blinksy reports, the pursuit began shortly after 1-a.m., when a pickup without headlights on, in the area of 12th Avenue and 3rd Street Southeast, was seen operating erratically and going through  traffic control signage.

When police stopped the pickup to issue a traffic citation, the vehicle left, at a high rate of speed,leading police, joined by a Stutsman County Sheriff’s unit, through a portion of Southeast and Northeast Jamestown.

The driver then fled on foot and was found behind a residence in the 300 block of 4th Avenue Southeast and arrested without incident.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol assisted in setting up a containment area.

31 year old Jake Walter Newick was charged with  reckless endangerment along with possession of drug paraphernalia, plus unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

He had his initial appearance before Southeast District Court Judge Cherie Clark on Monday, and is remanded to the Stutsman County Correctional Center.
