Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Fire Department was called to 1321 5th Street, Northeast at 2:47-p.m., Wednesday.
The caller indicated smoke in the lower level apartment unit, residence stemming from a fire in the microwave oven.
City Fire Chief Jim Reuther says, Jamestown Police evacuated residents who wished to leave the building because of smoke in the hall. The fire department checked for any spread of the fire and extracted smoke. Other residents sheltered in place.
No additional fire reported, with a smoke smell in the apartment, and fire damage confined to the microwave.
No injuries reported.
Six City Fire Units and 20 fire fighers were on the scene for about 45 minutes.
