BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — ND Congressman Kevin Cramer’s son, who had been suffering from failing liver and kidneys, has died at a Minnesota hospital. Cramer spokesman Tim Rasmussen says 35 year-old Isaac Cramer died Thursday morning at the Mayo Clinic.

He would not confirm the cause of death. Cramer told The Associated Press earlier that his son was being evaluated by a “transplant team.”

Cramer says in a Facebook post that he and his wife, Kris, were with their son when he died.  The couple had not publicly disclosed the cause of Isaac Cramer’s illness but the congressman said in his Facebook post that his son now “feels no anxiety or urging for alcohol.”

Cramer recently launched his campaign for U.S. Senate, where he is hoping to unseat Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp.

(KFYR TV) North Dakota Congressman Kevin Cramer said in a Facebook post Thursday morning that his son Isaac Cramer passed away at the Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus in Rochester, Minn.

Cramer: “Kris and I are grateful we were both able to be with our son Isaac Cramer at the Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital in Rochester this morning as he went to be with Jesus. We were listening to @jeremycamp singing “You’re Worthy of My Praise”, holding hands, when Ike looked at me and took his last breath on Earth. Now Isaac feels no anxiety or urging for alcohol. He feels no pain and will never be depressed again. Today is our youngest son Abel’s 11th birthday. Ike introduced Abel to us on his 25th birthday over 10 years ago. Now Isaac and Abel share the same birthday. God is good!”

Senator John Hoeven Thursday issued the following statement after the passing of Representative Kevin Cramer’s son Isaac Cramer:

“We are truly saddened to hear of Isaac’s passing. We know this is a very difficult time for the Cramer family and we pray for God’s blessing on them. Mikey and I extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to Kevin, his wife Kris and their entire family.”
