Kent Wayne Miller was born on January 3, 1943 at the Marion Hospital to Edna & Otto (Supler) Miller. He attended elementary school at Adrian and graduated from Dickey High School in 1961. He attended college at Valley City State Teachers College where he earned a degree in education, majoring in English and physical education. During the summer season he worked for Roy Scheffler for ten years on road construction throughout North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana.

In 1966 he began teaching High School English at Tuttle, North Dakota. On May 31, 1969 he married Jean Carter at Lisbon. They moved to Grand Forks where he became chairman of the English Department. While living in Grand Forks he and his brother Lee formed a construction company. They built several houses in the area, including his own. In 1973, Lee and Kent started raising sunflowers at Adrian.

In 1975 Kent and Jean moved to the family farm and began farming full time with his brother. They went on to raise three children: Mitch, Jana and Mike. He taught part time at the Marion School. In 1988 he suffered kidney failure and was on dialysis three times a week for two years in Fargo. On November 16, 1990, he had a kidney transplant at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Kent held offices as President, Elder and Trustee at Trinity Lutheran Church.

He served on the Adrian Equity Elevator Board and was a board member during the building of Memorial Park Country Club. His hobbies included shooting pool where his team, Circle 13 won the Jamestown Men’s Pool Championship in 1985. He and his brother shared the hobby of restoring antique tractors for many years. They started the old time plowing bee in 1995 which is held annually on their farm.

He is survived by: his wife Jean of 49 years, son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell & Rhea Miller, and their children Graci & Izzy of Adrian; daughter and son-in-law, Jana & Evan Punt, and their children Jordyn, Mya & Carter of Reiles Acres; son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Jamie Miller, and their child Wyatt of Adrian, his brother Lee (Kathleen) Miller of Adrian, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Adrian, North Dakota with Rev. Jonathan Durkopp officiating.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Adrian, North Dakota.

Interment: Adrian Cemetery, Adrian, North Dakota.
