Dakota.
Jamestown (CSi) No injuries reported when a bird struck a United Express aircraft late Wednesday evening.
Th Jamestown Regional Airport’s Air Rescue and Fire crew were notified of the incident about 11:23 p.m.
Airport employee Ben Maulding, says the aircraft had just departed Jamestown for Devils Lake when the incident occurred.
The aircraft returned safely to Jamestown Regional Airport.
No injuries were reported.
No immediate word on damage to the plane.
Maulding says the airport’s Air Rescue and Fire crew was called on stand-by as the normal procedure.
Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police continue to investigate an incident, early morning, on Thursday, when a car driven by a Jamestown man left the street, and crashed into a Southwest Jamestown business.
Lt. Sidney Mann reported that the crash happened at 12:24 a.m. Thursday at 1005 17th St. SW in Jamestown, the NAPA Auto Parts store.
The driver 23 year old David McManus, Jamestown, lost control of his vehicle, leaving the pavement, crossed through a ditch, and striking the building.
McManus was charged with driving under suspension, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arrested and was placed in custody at the Stutsman County Correctional Center pending formal charges.
He was not injured.
Damage to the structure and vehicle is estimated at about $10,000.
Jamestown (CSi) Authorities are investing, the crash of a semi that failed to clear the overpass Thursday morning, at the I-94 Exit 257 at Jamestown.

Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Council’s Police & Fire, and Public Works Committees met Thursday at 4-p.m., at City Hall.
All members were present.
POLICE & FIRE COMMITTEE
The committee considered request for replacement of Police Department in-car computers, in the amount of $31,000.00.
Police Chief Scott Edinger said, said the present equipment has old technology, and is need of replacement.
The seven marked police cars would be covered in the amount, and the computers are expected to last 10,000 hours.
The present computers have 50,000 hours on them.
City Administrator Helleckson said the dollars will come out of the General Fund.
The committee recommends approving the request.
PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
The committee recommends approving Change Order No. 1, to Northern Technologies, LLC, for the Monitoring Well System Upgrades, balancing final increase of $2,190.00
Also the committee recommended approval of the draft Cost Participation and Maintenance Agreement with the ND Department of Transportation for US-281 and I-94 Ramp Intersections Project.
Travis Dillman of Interstate Engineering said the NDDOT says it will take care of maintenance of the traffic signals, a reversal of it previous decision.
The committee considered a request by Randy Peterson to grant a special permit to install an electric fence at his residence.
(The City of Jamestown municipal ordinance Appendix C Section 8.9 (c), prohibits electric fences and states that “It shall be unlawful for any person to erect, install, or maintain any electrically-charged fence within the city except, upon approval from the building official, for retaining animals as allowed by city ordinance upon proof that the fence will not be hazardous or dangerous to life.”)
Council Member Buchanan sited possible injuries, and hazards to children or animals.
The committee took no action to approve.
A request was heard by resident Gerry D’Amour to discuss snow plowing.
He requested more information on the city’s website, and specific information on snow clearing plans following a snowfall event, and maps.
Mayor Andersen said a news release is sent to the media, for publication concerning snow clearing plans.
He also has concerns on snow plowing around corners, especially where fire hydrants are located.
Discussion was held on bids received from RDO Equipment for:
One new motor grader, with five year guaranteed buyback for the city street department.
One new motor grader with a six year guaranteed buyback, for the city street department.
City Attorney Leo Ryan recommended the bid not be opened, due to discrepancies, which was recommended by the committee and to re-advertise.
Council Member Pam Phillips said Tourism Director Searle Swedlund indicated that an advertising agency wants to include the Buffalo Statue in car advertising, and brought the item to committee to determine policy.
Ralph Friebel of Recycle North Dakota said the recycling effort has so far shown to have a high participation rate, and that the materials are coming in cleaner than expected.
He said a cover has been ordered for the automated trucks to hold down on blowing material.
He added that the recycler will check the wind report each week before emptying the large dumpsters, in an effort to hold down the items blowing in the wind.

Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Public Works informs residents that city crews will begin flushing fire hydrants in the NE & NW areas beginning tomorrow, Friday, April 27, 2018 and will continue the work throughout the City during normal working hours until completed.
Please be aware of the possibility of lowered water pressure when flushing of hydrants occurs in the various areas.
Edgeley (CSi) A Wednesday morning fire at 8-O’Clock was reported at the CHS Feed Plant at Edgeley.
Edgeley Fire Chief and Mayor, Steve Powers says no structural damage occurred, to the bin of feed pellets, and the fire did not spread to other structures.
The cause of the fire was likely moldy grain that generated heat as it decayed.
HUNTER, N.D. (AP) — Crews have a fire under control at a city-owned bar on Hunter’s Main Street.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the blaze at the C&I Bar began just after 2 a.m. Thursday. Firefighters from several towns responded and kept the flames from spreading to Hunter Grain Co.’s headquarters next door.
Authorities believe the bar building is a total loss. The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately determined. No one was hurt.

MADISON, S.D. (PlayNorthStar.com/VCSU)- Valley City State University track and field athletes Megan Johnson and Kyle Odegard have both been honored with North Star Athletic Association Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards, the conference office announced Tuesday. Johnson (long jump) and Odegard (javelin) both met the NAIA “A” standard on Friday to qualify for nationals in their respective events.

Megan Johnson – Valley City State (N.D.) – Senior – Enderlin, N.D. – Johnson hit the NAIA ‘A’ standard in women’s long jump at Blue Hawk Games for Valley City State (N.D.). She won the long jump with a mark of 5.80 meters (19 feet, .5 inches). She broke her own school record of 5.57 meters set last year, and she now ranks 12th in the nation and leads the North Star in long jump. Johnson also placed third in the high jump after clearing the height measurement of 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch).
North Star Athletic Association Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Kyle Odegard – Valley City State (N.D.) – Freshman – Lisbon, N.D. – Odegard became the No. 7-ranked javelin thrower in the NAIA as he qualified for the NAIA Nationals with an ‘A’ standard of 59.73 meters (195 feet, 11 inches) for Valley City State (N.D.). His toss won the Northern State (S.D.) Twilight meet by more than four meters and is the second farthest throw in school history. Odegard now ranks first in the NSAA by more than four meters.

SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) — An explosion rocked a refinery in northwestern Wisconsin on Thursday, injuring at least 11 people, forcing the evacuation of homes, schools and a hospital, and sending a plume of noxious smoke into the air.
Authorities said a tank containing crude oil or asphalt exploded at the Husky Energy oil refinery in Superior, a city of about 27,000 that borders Minnesota and the westernmost tip of Lake Superior. That prompted them to order the evacuation of a three-mile (five-kilometer) radius around the refinery, as well as a 10 mile (16 kilometer) corridor south of it where the smoke was heading.
It was unclear how many people were being evacuated.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Mike Pompeo has been sworn is as secretary of state.
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito swore Pompeo in Thursday afternoon at the Supreme Court.
From there, Pompeo was expected to rush to Andrews Air Force Base, where an aircraft was waiting to whisk him to Europe for his first trip as secretary. Pompeo is expected to travel to Brussels before heading on to the Middle East.
Pompeo’s nomination was confirmed by the Senate earlier Thursday on a 57-42 vote. It was one of the slimmest margins for the job in recent history.
President Donald Trump applauded the confirmation of his former CIA director as secretary of state, calling him a “patriot.”
