Jamestown  (Chamber)  The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with TrainND and the Jamestown-Stutsman Development Corporation hosted a First Time Manager training at the chamber offices.  The training was presented by Mary Beth Burns, a trainer for TrainND.  There were 20 attendees from various businesses all over the region, including Lisbon, Hankinson, Grand Forks, Carrington, Devils Lake, Edgeley, Ellendale, Bismarck, Valley City, West Fargo, Linton and Jamestown.  A wide variety of businesses provided this training opportunity for their employees.

The training was designed to help first-time managers overcome challenging career transitions.  This class was based on the #1 Best Selling Book, “The New One Minute Manager” by Ken Blanchard, to introduce four core conversations and coaching skills that first-time managers need to achieve success. The participants engaged in a very interactive class, with lots of role playing and active listening to help them experience the skills necessary to become a good manager.

The chamber, TrainND and JSDC will also be hosting additional business training for the community throughout the summer and fall, including Microsoft Office software classes, QuickBooks, customer service, human resource classes, leaderships classes and more.  If your business is in need of any type of training, you are encouraged to contact the chamber, Becky Thatcher-Keller, to request options at 701-252-4830, or to register for the classes.  Registration can be accessed online at www.jamestownchamber.com.
