Mary Jane Anderson, 86, of Edgeley, ND, passed away Thursday night, May 10, 2018 at Eventide Care Center, Jamestown.

Mary Jane was born on August 1, 1931, in Valley City, daughter of Fritz and Viola (Beil) Priebe. She grew up on the farm and graduated valedictorian of Noltimier High School class of 1949. Activities in her high school years included girls basketball.

She married Wm. A. (Bill) Anderson in October 1951 in Valley City, while working as an operator for Northwestern Bell. While living in Edgeley, they raised four children; Becky, Roger, Jim and Joan. Bill passed away suddenly in July 1974. Mary Jane later began her career at the Manor St Joseph where she was able to spend her last couple years as a resident.

Mary Jane loved gardening, especially flowers. Seemed everything she touched bloomed beautifully. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Though with the assistance of a bread maker, there was never a shortage of fresh bread smells coming from her kitchen. If not that, there was an unending supply of apple crisp being pulled from her oven. A variety of hot dishes seemed to pour from her oven as well. Don’t even think of asking for her recipe, there would never seem to be one.

Mary Jane enjoyed sitting at her kitchen table looking up the different kinds of birds and watching them at the feeder. Numerous hours were spent trying to outsmart those pesky squirrels that always got into her feeders.

Mary Jane is survived by her four children, Rebecca (Nolan) Baldwin, Jamestown, ND, Roger (Meleia) Anderson, Edgeley, ND, James (Gail) Anderson, Mandan, ND and Joan Mills, Walhalla, ND; eight grandchildren, Aaron (Candy) Baldwin, Jamestown, ND, Tim (Allison) Baldwin, Jamestown, ND, Amy (Randy) Boyer, Edgeley, ND, Alan (Jenna) Anderson, Forman, ND, Dayne (Kim) Anderson, Mandan, ND, Kirsten (Cameron) Gatling, Castle Rock, CO, Heidi (Marcus) Bailly, Walhalla, ND, Sara Mills, Fargo, ND and sixteen great grandchildren. Three sisters; Gladys Ratzlaff, Valley City, ND, Ruth Kerbaugh, Cooperstown, ND, Nancy Deutscher, Moorhead, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, parents-in-law, Wm. A. and Selma Anderson, brother, Earl Priebe, sisters, Annabelle Reichert and Jeanne Priebe, son-in-law Curt Mills and grandson Lee Anderson.
