Rodney Schmidt, 66, Streeter, ND died Saturday May 12, 2018 on his farm as a result of an ATV accident.

Rodney Schmidt was born August 7, 1951 at Jamestown, ND the son of Edwin Schmidt and Hildegard (Betsch) Schmidt. He received his elementary education in Streeter graduating from the Streeter High School. He then attended ND State College of Science at Wahpeton, ND and graduated in 1972.

He and Karen Ketterling were married September 15, 1973. They made their home on the farm west of Streeter where they have farmed and he also worked for the NDSU Central Grassland Research Center as a Beef Herdsman.

He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Streeter, ND. His church family meant a great deal to him. His faith for God was unwavering even in the hardest times.

He had an indescribable pride for his three sons. He raised them to be amazing men by showing them a true example of what it means to be a man of faith. He led others by his faith, kindness, and gentle spirit. He loved farming and working hard was a source of strength. Farming was not a job to Rodney. He will be remembered for many things, his generosity to his neighbors, and his willingness to help others. His love for his family was evident in all that he did. He was a blessing to everyone’s life that he touched even if it was a brief moment, or many years. It was a privilege to have a man like Rodney in your life.

Surviving are his wife Karen, Streeter, ND, 3 son’s Jeremy (JoDell) Schmidt, Bismarck, ND; Jonah (Celine) Schmidt, Fargo, ND; Jackson (special friend Elizabeth Schatz), Jamestown, ND; 8 grandchildren and 1 brother-in-law, Bryan Reimnitz, Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sharilyn in 2003.

Visitation – 9am-12pm Thursday at the Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown and 4-7 Thursday at the Church in Streeter

Funeral Service – 10:00 AM Friday May 18, 2018 in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Streeter, ND with Rev. Hazel Behrens, pastor officiating

Interment – Friedens Cemetery, Streeter, ND
