Fred “Fritz” Hieb, 91, of Jamestown ND, died May 20, 2018 in the arms of people who loved him. Fred Hieb, son of Conrad and Martha (Bender) Hieb, loving husband of Lois (Fenno) Hieb, is survived by his wife Lois, and two sons William (Marilu) and Richard (Jean). He is also survived by three grandchildren, Fritz, Lindsey, and Jonathan (Sarah) Hieb, and two brothers, Clayton (Peggy) and Melvin (Mary Beth) Hieb. He was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Hieb and Chris Schleicher, a granddaughter, Iva Hieb, and one sister, four brothers, and four half-sisters.

Fred Hieb was born and raised in Burleigh County, ND in 1926, and served in the military before returning home and meeting and falling in love with his lifelong best friend Lois, to whom he was married on November 27, 1949 in LaMoure, ND. They chose Jamestown ND as a place to live and raise a family, where he was a transport driver for Dan Dugan and subsequently Standard Oil/Amoco.  Following his retirement from Amoco he ran a successful tree trimming and removal business around Jamestown for a number of years and then created a business buying and selling antiques and other items of interest to him and his faithful customers and many friends of all ages.

He was an easily recognized and beloved figure at garage and estate sales throughout the region.  He was very active in the Jamestown Church of the Nazarene throughout his life and loved serving as an usher, greeter and board member there for many years.  Anyone who knew Fred knew how much he loved his family, who, along with his friends, will miss him greatly.

Services will be held this Friday, May 25, 2018 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Jamestown at 10:30 AM.  Memorial donations in memory of Fred may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, 1307 6th Ave SE, Jamestown, ND 58401.
