FARGO, N.D. (AP) — An 85-year-old Fargo man accused of shooting and killing his wife during an alleged double suicide pact has been arraigned in his hospital room.Louis Averson is being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound, so his arraignment took place at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo Tuesday. Prosecutors say fatally shot his 85-year-old wife, Ila Averson, after both tried to die by carbon monoxide poisoning in their garage last Friday.
Louis Averson says his wife was in poor health, so they decided to take their own lives. Anderson is charged with felony murder with intention.
Averson told Judge Frank Racek to do “whatever you gotta do” because he wasn’t going anywhere.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled July 11.

Court documents show that Louis Averson told authorities that he and 85-year-old Ila Averson agreed to kill themselves because of her poor health. He says they attempted carbon monoxide poisoning in their garage Friday night and sat in a vehicle for five hours. He says his wife knew he was going to shoot and then shoot himself. Louis Averson survived and remains in a Fargo hospital.
Police say they discovered a last will and testament for the couple inside their house and bill from a law that was completed earlier Friday.
Court documents do not list a lawyer for Louis Averson. He’s scheduled to appeared in court Tuesday with proceedings held in his hospital room.

(AP) — Fargo police say an 85-year-old man shot and killed his wife and then tried to kill himself.The body of the 85-year-old woman was found in the garage of the couple’s apartment early Saturday. The man had called to say he had just killed his wife.Investigators say the man apparently shot his wife and then himself after the couple tried to kill themselves from carbon monoxide poisoning by running their car in the garage.KFGO-AM reports the man and woman were in poor health.The husband is expected to recover. FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a woman was found dead and a man was found with a gunshot wound after an incident at a Fargo apartment complex.
Police were called to the complex early Saturday on a report of a man shot. A citizen found the man in a garage after hearing the man call for help. WDAY-TV reports officers then found a dead woman inside a vehicle in the garage.
Authorities aren’t seeking any suspects and will release the names of those involved next week.
