Wanda Spitzer, 67, Bismarck, ND died Thursday morning, June 14, at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, ND.

Wanda Derby was born April 17, 1951 at Jamestown, ND the daughter of Irving and Lorraine (Headland) Derby. She attended the local School graduating from Montpelier High School in 1969. She then attended Valley City State University, studying computer science.

She and Randy Spitzer were married February 6, 1971 at the Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, ND. They made their home on a farm near Montpelier where they raised their family, until 1984 when they moved to Valley City. She was able to finish her schooling at VCSU receiving her Bachelor of Computer Science. In 1989 they moved to Fargo where Wanda worked for NDSU and Great Plains Software. They moved to Bismarck in 2002 where she has worked for the State of ND until this past spring.

Wanda enjoyed crocheting, gardening, camping, refurbishing furniture and her family. Her biggest and most loved hobby was crocheting angels for cancer patients. She started in 2003 with herself being diagnosed with breast cancer, making hundreds of angels of all sizes for cancer patients and putting smiles on countless faces; also being featured in an article in the Bismarck Tribune in 2007.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Randy; 3 children, Lorri (Chris) Strand, Kalispell, MT; Jason Spitzer, Sierra Vista, AZ; Shawn Spitzer, Denver, CO; 2 grandchildren, Zach and Ethan Strand; 1 sister, Bonnie (Chuck) Schmitz, Jamestown, ND; 1 niece, Niki Wickman and 1 great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Darrel.

Funeral Service- 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND with Greg Allen, officiating

Visitation- 9-7p Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 4-7

Interment – Sunset Memorial Gardens- Jamestown, ND
