Kent Harrison Tarno, 48, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, June 30, 2018 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

Kent was born November 9, 1969 in Jamestown to Myron and LaDona (Berreth) Tarno.

He grew up on a farm in the Windsor – Cleveland area. After graduation, he moved to Valley City in October of 1990 and was a client of Open Door Center. He worked at Hardees, Leevers, Market Place Foods, and recently The Viking Room. He was a friendly guy and remembered all he met.

He was an avid sports fan. He was in Special Olympics since grade school. He competed in North Carolina Nationals in 1999 and won three silver medals in weight lifting. Kent competed in World Games in Japan in 2005 and won three bronze medals in snowshoeing. He also competed in the North Dakota State Games in bocce, bowling, and snowshoeing.

Kent hardly missed a stock car race at Jamestown Speedway, cheering on his brother, Randy, and other friends.

Kent is survived by his parents, and brother, Randy (Lesley) Tarno of Jamestown.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Holly in 2000, and his grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Open Door Center, Valley City or North Dakota Special Olympics.

Visitation: 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Williams Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Erik Weber officiating.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
