RAY, N.D. (AP) — A Minot man is dead in a semitrailer crash that led to the shutdown of a portion of U.S. Highway 2 due to a fuel spill.
The Highway Patrol says the semi with two trailers went into the median about 3 miles west of Ray and overturned about 4 a.m. Monday.
The 67-year-old driver died at the scene. He wasn’t immediately identified.
The semi was hauling about 9,000 gallons of gasoline and 1,000 gallons of diesel. It wasn’t immediately known how much spilled. A stretch of U.S. 2 was closed for more than 10 hours so the spill could be cleaned up before the highway reopened Monday afternoon.
