RAY, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the driver who died when his semi overturned on U.S. Highway 2.Sixty-seven-year-old Richard Cantone, of Minot, died at the scene of the crash early Monday near Ray.Authorities say the semi was hauling two trailers with about 9,000 gallons of gasoline and 1,000 gallons of diesel, some of which spilled when the semi overturned. It isn’t known how much fuel spilled. A stretch of Highway 2 was closed for more than 12 hours for cleanup.

RAY, N.D. (AP) — A Minot man is dead in a semitrailer crash that led to the shutdown of a portion of U.S. Highway 2 due to a fuel spill.

The Highway Patrol says the semi with two trailers went into the median about 3 miles west of Ray and overturned about 4 a.m. Monday.

The 67-year-old driver died at the scene. He wasn’t immediately identified.

The semi was hauling about 9,000 gallons of gasoline and 1,000 gallons of diesel. It wasn’t immediately known how much spilled. A stretch of U.S. 2 was closed for more than 10 hours so the spill could be cleaned up before the highway reopened Monday afternoon.
