BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Trial is set next summer for a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the parents of a State College of Science student found dead while working as an undercover drug informant.

Tammy and John Sadek in June 2016 sued the Richland County sheriff’s department, a deputy and the county over the 2014 death of their 20-year-old son Andrew.

He was found dead in a river with a bullet in his head and a backpack of rocks tied to his body. His parents are seeking unspecified money damages.

Trial had been scheduled for April, but plaintiffs’ attorney Tim O’Keeffe said it was delayed while he pursued more information. A five-day trial is now set for next July in Jamestown.

Minnesota’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the investigation into Andrew Sadek’s death is ongoing.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Lincoln woman faces drug and other charges after investigators say she falsely accused a former Burleigh County deputy of terrorizing.

The Bismarck Tribune reports Natasha Reiger is charged with making a false report to law enforcement after she reported on Monday that Kerry Komrosky held a gun to her head, threatened her life and physically assaulted her.

Court records don’t list an attorney for Reiger.

Investigators say a recording of the incident verified Komrosky’s version of events.

The report prompted the SWAT team to respond to the Lincoln residence where Komrosky eventually stuck his hands outside of the home and asked officers not to shoot.

In a separate case, Komrosky is accused of stealing evidence from drug cases while working as a deputy. He has pleaded not guilty.

RUGBY, N.D. (AP) — A Towner man accused of having sex with a female inmate at the jail in Rugby while working there as a cook has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor adultery.

Authorities say 51-year-old Marcelo Lara had consensual sex with the 33-year-old female inmate in the walk-in cooler at the Heart of America Correctional Center. The woman had been allowed to help prepare jail meals while she was incarcerated, and Lara was her supervisor.

Lara initially was charged with felony sexual abuse of a ward, which carries a maximum punishment of five years in prison. The Minot Daily News reports he reached a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of one year.

Lara’s wife signed a complaint for adultery earlier this summer.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump says the Russia probe was not a factor, “even a little bit,” in his decision about White House counsel Don McGahn. Trump announced Wednesday on Twitter that McGahn will depart in the fall, likely after Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s expected confirmation to the Supreme Court. Word of McGahn’s departure followed a New York Times report earlier this month on McGahn’s extensive cooperation with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election interference.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department has sided with Asian-American students suing Harvard University over its consideration of race in its admissions policy. It’s the latest step in the Trump administration’s effort to encourage race-neutral admissions practices. The Justice Department says the school has failed to demonstrate that it does not discriminate on the basis of race. Harvard fired back, saying that it does not discriminate and will fight to defend its right to use race as a factor in admissions.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is standing by his remarks about violence and the midterm elections. “There’s a lot of unnecessary violence all over the world, but also in this country. And I don’t want to see it,” Trump told reporters Wednesday. Earlier this week, Trump told a gathering of conservative Christian supporters that if Democrats win, they “will overturn everything that we’ve done and they’ll do it quickly and violently.” Some dinner guests said Trump was warning them not to be complacent.
