Vernon Duane Beyer, 77, of Spiritwood, North Dakota, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 4, 2018 quietly at home after a short fight with cancer.

Vernon was born December 16, 1940 to Ervin and Violette (Storberg) Beyer.  He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1959.  Vernon married Linda Carroll April 16, 1961.  They had three children and later divorced.  The last fifteen years were spent with his companion Claudette Yde.

He was a self-taught mechanic and worked with his father-in-law at a shop in Jamestown.  Vernon then worked with his father-in-law custom combining, working their way from Texas back home.  He also worked the Coal Mines in Montana and South Dakota.  Vernon worked construction for many years.  Around 2002 he purchased the family farm and farmed until he retired.  Was well known for his cars, tractors and scrapping.

Vernon enjoyed tinkering with old tractors and getting them running, going to auctions and his scrapping.

He is survived by his companion Claudette Yde; two daughters Roxanne (Ernest) Johnson, Oberon, ND, Theresa Beyer, Savanna, GA; son Kelly (Rebecca) Scheets-Johnson, Jamestown, ND; six grandchildren Wesley Beyer, Lisbon, Tasha (Matt) Cree, Minot, ND, Tyler (Alicia) Tollefson, New Rockford, ND, Travis Beyer, Savanna, GA, Wesley & Zachary Sheets-Johnson, Jamestown, ND.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother & father, sister Calenda and son David.

Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Monday, September 10, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.

Visitation: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Monday, September 10, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Interment: Emmanuel Cemetery, Marion, North Dakota.
