House Fire Courtenay, Friday Morning

Courtenay (CSi) The Courtenay  Fire Department was called out at 10:20am., on Friday to a rural house fire, at 8645 16th Street Southeast  .

Four units and  11 firefighters of the Courtenay fire department were on hand.

Fire Chief Steven Somsen reported that the cause of the fire was electrical,  due to a ceiling fan or kitchen light.

The fire department was called back to the scene at 11:27 a.m., for about a half hour as a child’s electronic toy was smoldering.

The Buffalo Valley Red Cross Chapter provided assistance to the family of seven.
