Authorities say the officer arrested a 33-year-old New Town man on outstanding warrants Saturday afternoon. The man allegedly resisted arrest, fought with officers before being taken into custody, and then assaulted the officer while being booked into jail.

The man was arrested on the warrants out of Burleigh County and Mandan and also for preventing arrest and assaulting a police officer. Formal charges were pending.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Lawyers in the case of a man accused in the killing of a pregnant North Dakota woman won’t be starting from scratch when they select the jury.

Prospective jurors are scheduled to report Tuesday for the trial of William Hoehn, charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the August 2017 death of 22-year-old Savanna Greywind of Fargo. Hoehn’s former girlfriend, Brooke Crews, pleaded guilty earlier to killing Greywind and cutting her baby from her womb. The baby survived.

Jury questionnaires were sent in April to 96 people in the jury pool, before a judge denied a request by Hoehn’s attorney to move to the trial.

Hoehn has admitted that he helped cover up Greywind’s murder, but he said he didn’t know Crews had planned to kill her.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A Minot man who fled the Ward County Courthouse after a judge revoked his probation has been arrested after six months.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A research project will explore the possibility of temporarily storing natural gas in underground rock formations.

North Dakota oil operators are struggling to meet targets to reduce wasteful flaring of excess natural gas.

The Bismarck Tribune reports the state Industrial Commission has approved $140,000 to evaluate the potential of injecting produced natural gas underground and retrieving it years later when the state has additional infrastructure.

The state’s natural gas production hit a record 2.4 billion cubic feet per day in July. North Dakota operators flared 436 million cubic feet per day that month, also an all-time high. The industry missed the state’s gas capture target for the third straight month.

State Mineral Resources Director Lynn Helms says storing gas underground could be an innovative solution for the Bakken oil patch.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota’s Public Service Commission has discussed an administrative law judge’s recommendation that regulators dismiss a challenge to the location of an oil refinery being developed near Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

One commissioner indicated Monday that she’ll likely vote to heed the advice, while the other two members said they’ll hold off on indicating their position until later.

Meridian Energy Group plans to build the $800 million Davis Refinery 3 miles (5 kilometers) from the park. Two environmental groups maintain that Meridian needs PSC approval for the site. Meridian disputes that.

The PSC asked for a judge to weigh in. Administrative Law Judge Patrick Ward said last week that the commission, under state law, doesn’t have jurisdiction. The final decision is up to the PSC and will come at a later date.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Sen. Heidi Heitkamp says the Senate Judiciary Committee should investigate a sexual assault allegation made by a woman against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Heitkamp tweeted Monday that Christine Blasey Ford should be offered the chance to testify.

Ford says Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were teenagers. Kavanaugh calls the claim “completely false.”

The North Dakota Democrat is seen as a key vote on Kavanaugh. She is facing GOP U.S. Rep. Kevin Cramer in a race seen as critical for Republicans’ chances to keep the Senate.

Cramer says the confirmation hearings should proceed. He says the allegations are serious but “it is hard not to be skeptical considering the timing and history of the allegations.”

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department has rescinded a no-wake zone that was put in place on the Missouri River earlier this summer to reduce bank erosion in the Bismarck-Mandan area.

The agency in late June restricted boats and other watercraft within 200 feet of the shoreline to idle speed only on a stretch of the river from about 23 miles north of Bismarck to about 19 miles south of the city.

It was prompted by high river levels due to higher-than-normal releases from Garrison Dam upstream because of a large amount of runoff in the basin. The penalty for violating the restriction was a $200 fine.

The rule was lifted Monday.

Two of Carlson’s misses came in overtime on Sunday, forcing the Vikings to settle for a 29-29 tie with the rival Packers. Carlson was cut on Monday, as the Vikings signed wide receiver Aldrick Robinson.

They didn’t immediately announce a replacement for Carlson. Dan Bailey, the second-most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history, is a free agent after being released by the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago.

Carlson was awarded the job when the Vikings let Kai Forbath goes on Aug. 20, and Carlson pulled two field goal tries wide left in a preseason game four days later.

Judge, Chapman pass tests

UNDATED (AP) — New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge had 11 at-bats in a simulated game and closer Aroldis Chapman threw 22 pitches, perhaps the last steps before both are cleared to return to full action.

Judge is recovering from a broken right wrist, sustained when he was hit by a pitch on July 26. His only major league action since then was two innings in right field on Friday night.

Chapman has not pitched in a game since Aug. 21 because of left knee tendinitis. The team said Judge and Chapman did not have any issues.

Also in the majors:

— Michael Fulmer is seeking a second opinion after an MRI showed possible damage to the right-hander’s meniscus. Fulmer was removed after five pitches Saturday at Cleveland after tweaking his right knee trying to field a bunt attempt. The 2016 AL Rookie of the Year, is 3-12 with a 4.69 ERA this season and has dealt with various health issues the past two years.

But the Browns decided to cut ties when Gordon reported to the team on Saturday with a hamstring injury after practicing all week.

Meyer begins damage control

UNDATED (AP) — Ohio State coach Urban Meyer says he has sent letters and had conversations with families of players as a key step toward containing and repairing the scandal that led to his three-game suspension.

Meyer acknowledged Monday that the program’s reputation has suffered and said he hopes more clarity about what happened will help mitigate the damage.

Meyer was questioned at length during a 55-minute news conference about his mismanagement of an assistant coach accused of domestic abuse. The session would have normally been about his team’s upcoming football game.

Meyer reiterated his contention that he did not turn his back on domestic violence allegations against wide receivers coach Zach Smith, who was fired in July.

In other college football news:
