SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (uj.edu) — The University of Jamestown volleyball team lost in three sets at No. 10 Dordt (Iowa) Friday night. Set scores were 22-25, 21-25, 16-25.

The Defenders outhit the Jimmies .202-.059 in the match, finishing wth 43 kills to UJ’s 27. Jamestown made 20 errors in 119 attack attempts while Dordt made 18 errors in 124 attempts.

Isabel Wedell (JR/Ellendale, N.D.) led UJ (11-3 overall, 3-2 Great Plains Athletic Conference) with seven kills and a .300 hitting percentage. Britta Knudson (JR/Bismarck, N.D.) and Kori Buchanan (SR/Colfax, Wis.) added five kills each.

Miranda Lowman (JR/Mandan, N.D.) and Jackie Meiklejohn (FR/Dickey, N.D.) both had 10 assists. Meiklejohn also had eight digs on defense.

Corina Ruud (SO/Breezy Point, Minn.) finished with five total blocks and Knudson was right behind her with four, including one solo. Julina Niemeier (SR/Jamestown, N.D.) had 21 digs as well as the Jimmies’ only service ace of the match.

Jamestown travels to Omaha, Neb., for a match Saturday against College of Saint Mary. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m.

Jamestown def  College of St, Mary 25-14,25-20,25-20

OMAHA, Neb.  (uj.edu) — The University of Jamestown volleyball team bounced back from being swept Friday at Dordt by completing a sweep of their own Saturday, defeating College of Saint Mary 25-14, 25-20, 25-20.

The Jimmies improve to 12-3 overall and 4-2 in Great Plains Athletic Association play. The Flames fall to 10-11 overall and 0-6 in the GPAC.

UJ outhit CSM .231-.040 in the match, making only 14 attack errors. Jamestown also had a 62-48 advantage in digs as well as the only service ace of the match.

Kori Buchanan (SR/Colfax, Wis.) had a team-best nine kills and .318 hitting percentage for the Jimmies. Britta Knudson (JR/Bismarck, N.D.) finished with seven kills while Corina Ruud (SO/Breezy Point, Minn.) and Kennedy Conzemius (SR/Breckenridge, Minn.) both added six.

Miranda Lowman (JR/Mandan, N.D.) and Jackie Meiklejohn (FR/Dickey, N.D.) each passed out 18 assists. Julina Niemeier (SR/Jamestown, N.D.) paced the defense with 24 digs and Meghan Orr (JR/Ypsilanti, N.D.) was also in double figures with 13.

Knudson had five block assists while Ruud, Conzemius, and Isabel Wedell (JR/Ellendale, N.D.) all had three total blocks.

Next up for Jamestown is a non-conference match at Presentation (S.D.) College Tuesday night. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
