Raymond Ivan Posein, 78, of Valley City, ND died Sunday, September 23 at Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor, Jamestown with his loving wife by his side.

Ray was born June 6, 1940 to Walter and Elsie (Hanks) Posein at Millet, Alberta, Canada. He graduated from Briercrest High School, Caronport Saskatchewan. After graduation he attended Winnipeg Bible College, Winnipeg Manitoba where he met his future wife and graduated with a Bachelor of Theology Degree.

He and Alida Netzer were married on May 10, 1963 at Jamestown, ND. They had just celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary last spring.

Ray had a love of music from an early age. He played the piano, trombone, and accordian. He directed the First Baptist Church Choir in Jamestown for 23 years. Ray sang baritone in a quartet of church friends for many years. He was also a wonderful soloist. He loved flowers whether it was arranging fresh or silk flowers or tending his flower gardens. He was also an avid Red Wings hockey fan.

He had a part ownership in Bettin’s Flower Shop for many years. He later worked at Lil’ Feller Convenience Store which became Stop N’ Go. He retired from Napa Auto Parts.

Ray is survived by his loving wife; Alida, daughter; Sheri (Blaine) Guthmiller, beloved granddaughter; Janessa Kapp, brother; David Posein of Yorba Linda, CA, sister; Gail (Jim) Ratzlaff of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, sisters-in-law; Clarice (Abe) Reddekopp of Kansas City, MO and Mary Netzer of Aberdeen, SD, brothers-in-law; Clarence (Shirley) Netzer of Spiritwood Lake, ND, Milton (Mary) Netzer of Ely, MN, and Dwight (Darcy) Netzer of Albert Lea, MN, and special Aunt; Dora (Ervin) Miller of Leduc, Alberta.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Walter and Elsie Posein, brother; Larry Posein, and brother-in-law; Orval Netzer.

Visitation: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life: 10:30 AM, Friday, September 28, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Jamestown with Pastor Kalen Heller officiating.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens
