The school board will refer plans to committees and to the community to determine what can be done to go forward. The school board’s, work now is to prioritize what must be done with the resources available..

He is running 40-70 miles day and plans to reach Key West in early November.  He’s probably one of the few people who’s ever run the Alaska Highway.  He’s certainly the fastest!

He’s pushing a stroller with his gear and food.

Earlier this week he was running from Minot to Harvey, and Monday he  ran from Harvey to Carrington.  On Tuesday he ran from Carrington to Jamestown.

Pete is self funded on this run. To Support Pete and see how he is doing check out his webpage www.petesfeetaa.com or his facebook page Pete’s Feet Across America

Two years ago Pete set the world record for running across the U.S., breaking a 30-year record by four days.  He’s also won the Badwater 135 (regarded as the “toughest foot race on the planet”) twice, setting the course record a few years ago.  He was also a member of the USA 24-hour team that competed in the world meet in Northern Ireland last summer.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sen. Heitkamp’s Office)- U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp Tuesday announced that she is donating five U.S. Senate computers to be used in classrooms at the James River Special Education Cooperative in Jamestown.

The U.S. Senate Computers for Schools Program helps public schools take advantage of the information age by channeling surplus Senate computers into classrooms countrywide. All registered public schools in the United States and territories are eligible.

Heitkamp selected the James River Special Education Cooperative to receive the five gently-used computers so the school can meet students’ technology needs without having to buy all new equipment.

James River Special Education Director, Heidi Budeau, said, “Thank you Senator Heitkamp for your technology donation to the James River Special Education Cooperative. The nearly new computers will provide students access to 21st century learning and skills. I know students and staff are excited to use the computers and are very thankful for your thoughtfulness and kindness in assisting in the advancement of
their education.”

Heitkamp also selected the Oliver-Mercer Special Education Unit in Hazen, the Turtle Mountain Special Education Unit, and the GST Multidistrict Special Education Unit to receive gently-used U.S. Senate computers.

The Highway Patrol says the two vehicles collided at an intersection about 4 a.m. Tuesday. Details weren’t immediately released. The investigation is continuing.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota woman convicted of killing her pregnant neighbor by cutting the baby from her womb testified Tuesday that her boyfriend had pressured her to “produce a baby” after figuring out she had lied about being pregnant.Brooke Crews told the court that she had concocted a phony pregnancy to keep from losing William Hoehn, who is on trial for conspiracy in the August 2017 death of 22-year-old Savanna Greywind. Hoehn has admitted helping to cover up the crime but says he didn’t know that Crews had planned to kill Greywind and take her baby. Crews testified that she never “explicitly” told Hoehn that was her plan.Crews said Hoehn appeared surprised when he entered the bathroom in their apartment and discovered she had cut Greywind’s baby from her body. Crews said Hoehn then retrieved a rope and tightened it around Greywind’s neck, saying: “If she wasn’t dead before, she is now.”Greywind’s daughter survived and is being raised by family.Hoehn spoke regularly with his attorney, Daniel Borgen, during Crews’ testimony but showed little emotion. Crews was crying and sniffling throughout.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The farm group that challenged North Dakota’s Depression-era anti-corporate farming law says a federal judge’s recent decision not to strike down the law is at least a partial victory.

North Dakota Farm Bureau and others sued in 2016 to do away with the law that voters approved in 1932 to protect the state’s family farming heritage. Plaintiffs argued the law limits farmers’ business options and interferes with interstate commerce.

U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland allowed the law to stand but also said the state must extend an exception allowing small family farm corporations to corporations organized outside the state. Farm Bureau applauded that part of the ruling.

The group is consulting with attorneys before determining whether to appeal Hovland’s decision not to strike down the entire law.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The American Civil Liberties Union’s North Dakota chapter says a measure aimed at ethics reform in the state violates the First Amendment.

Measure 1 would amend the North Dakota constitution to ban foreign money from state elections, restrict lobbying and create an independent ethics commission, among other provisions.

Backers call it an “anti-corruption” measure aimed at transparency.

But the ACLU says the measure is “poorly written” and restricts “political speech and advocacy.”

The state’s largest business organization also announced this month that it will campaign to help defeat the measure.

The Greater North Dakota Chamber says it would be difficult to comply with the measure because it is too broadly worded.

Campaign filings show supporters of the initiative have attracted nearly $420,000, much of it from left-leaning out-of-state groups.

Osuna charge dropped

UNDATED (AP) — Canadian prosecutors have dropped an assault charge in a domestic case against Houston Astros pitcher Roberto Osuna. In exchange, he agreed Tuesday to a one-year “peace bond,” requiring him to not contact the complainant and to continue counseling.

Osuna was with the Toronto Blue Jays when he was charged in May with assault. Major League Baseball gave him a 75-game suspension without pay for violating its domestic violence policy.

The prosecutor said Tuesday they no longer had a reasonable prospect of conviction because the woman made clear she would not travel to Toronto from Mexico to testify against the closer.

Osuna was traded to the Astros on July 30 and was met with boos when he took the mound to close out Monday’s 5-3 win over the Blue Jays.

In other MLB news:

— Angels two-way rookie Shohei Ohtani (SHOH’-hay oh-TAH’-nee) will have Tommy John surgery next Tuesday. Ohtani won’t be able to pitch for the Angels in 2019, but he is likely to hit at some point early next season. Ohtani went 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 10 starts for the Angels, but he has pitched just once since early June after developing a strained right elbow.

— Aaron Hicks should recover from a tight left hamstring in a few days and return to the New York Yankees lineup this week, according to manager Aaron Boone. Hicks aggravated the leg Monday. Gregorius, who tore cartilage in his right wrist last weekend, took grounders didn’t throw. He is to be re-evaluated by team doctors Wednesday. Gleyber Torres was in the original starting lineup but was scratched due to minor hip/groin area discomfort.

— David Wright has been reinstated from the disabled list and added to the Mets’ active roster for the first time since June 3, 2016. After a long road back from injuries, the 35-year-old team captain will be eligible off the bench against NL East champion Atlanta. Assistant GM John Ricco says it’s unlikely Wright will play during the series, but he remains scheduled to start at third base in his farewell game Saturday against Miami.

— The Reds’ next manager won’t be Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin. President of Baseball Operations Dick Williams says Larkin prefers to remain in his current role of helping develop minor leaguers. Bench coach Pat Kelly, third base coach Billy Hatcher and first base coach Freddie Benavides were interviewed last weekend. Interim manager Jim Riggleman and former Boston manager John Farrell also will be interviewed.

NFL-VIKINGS-GRIFFEN

Vikings DE Griffen out indefinitely with mental health trouble

UNDATED (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings are giving Everson Griffin an indefinite amount of time to get his mental health in order.

The three-time Pro Bowl defensive end has demonstrated a series of erratic behavior since last week, when he was barred from practice until he had a mental health evaluation. Those concerns grew following several incidents on Saturday.

Police in suburban Minnetrista say the 30-year-old Griffen was acting erratically and making comments about people trying to kill him. He was eventually transported by ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation, but he was never arrested or suspected of committing any crimes.

Coach Mike Zimmer says the team’s only concern for Griffen is about him getting better, calling him a good model for the Vikings.

In other NFL news:

— Rams cornerback Aqib Talib (ah-KEEB’ tah-LEEB’) will undergo surgery Thursday to repair an ankle injury suffered in Sunday’s win over San Diego. Rams coach Sean McVay said Tuesday that a timetable for Talib’s return will not be known until after the procedure is completed and the full extent of the injury is determined. Talib has six tackles, two passes defended and one forced fumble in three games for a team that has limited opponents to 199 yards passing per game and two touchdown passes.

— The Titans have signed veteran quarterback Austin Davis while Marcus Mariota (mar-ee-OH’-tah) and backup Blaine Gabbert deal with injuries. Mariota has an injured elbow and Gabbert is in concussion protocol after taking a hit to the head in Sunday’s win over Jacksonville.

— The Panthers have addressed their injury-depleted offensive line by acquiring veteran Marshall Newhouse in a trade with the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo acquired a conditional draft pick from Carolina. The Bills then filled Newhouse’s spot by signing offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles to a one-year contract.

— Nike caused an uproar earlier this month with its ad featuring former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick that debuted just as the football season was about to begin. The furor seems to have largely died down as the company reports rising earnings and increased sales on Tuesday. While purpose-driven marketing can be a land mine for some companies, others have found it a useful way to differentiate themselves in an increasingly polarized political landscape.

SPORTS TEAMS-VOTER REGISTRATION

MLB, NFL, NBA franchises team up for ‘Rally the Vote’ drive

Nine sports franchises from Major League Baseball, the NBA and the NFL are teaming up and asking fans to register to vote.

The Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings from the NBA, along with MLB’s Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants, and the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL are offering fans a platform to register starting Tuesday on the teams’ mobile apps, websites and social media as part of a “Rally the Vote” effort.

Vivek Ranadivé, owner and chairman of the Sacramento Kings, says if teams can make ticket buying to sporting events accessible in a few clicks, there’s no reason registering to vote shouldn’t be the same.

According to the U.S. Census, there are 87.9 million Americans eligible to vote who are not registered.

In world and national news…

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump denounced Democratic efforts to block Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation and was dismissive of a second woman accusing the nominee of sexual misconduct in the 1980s. A Senate Judiciary Committee hearing is scheduled for Thursday where Kavanaugh and the first accuser will testify. The committee has scheduled a vote for Friday, in hopes of having him confirmed next week.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The second woman to accuse Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct wants to give a sworn statement to the FBI. That’s according to a tweet sent by her attorney John Clune. He says he wants to know why the Senate Judiciary Committee isn’t welcoming her account. Kavanaugh denies the accusation made by Yale University classmate Deborah Ramirez.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — On Wednesday, President Donald Trump will chair a meeting of the U.N. Security Council about nuclear proliferation. During Trump’s address Tuesday to the U.N. General Assembly, he asked other nations to “isolate Iran’s regime” as long as its nuclear aggression continues. But Trump flaunted his embrace of negotiations with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and he praised Kim’s “courage.”

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — More world leaders step up to the podium at the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday but the lion’s share of attention will be down the hall where U.S. President Donald Trump will be chairing the Security Council. It’ll be Trump’s first experience in leading a session of the U.N.’s most powerful body, where the U.S. currently holds the rotating presidency _ a perch it is using to double down on its criticism of Iran.

UNDATED (AP) — Anita Hill says she ‘can’t imagine’ the upcoming Supreme Court confirmation hearing for Brett Kavanaugh will be fair to his accuser. But she says the much-anticipated hearing shouldn’t be seen as a referendum on the #MeToo movement. Hill has been back in the spotlight since Christine Blasey Ford accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when the two were in high school.
