SIOUX CITY, Iowa  (uj.edu) — The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, October 6, 2018.  Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2018-2019 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Defense – Caleb Ellingson (SR/Jamestown, N.D.)
University of Jamestown linebacker Caleb Ellingson is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Ellingson led the Jamestown defense in their 34-32 win over Briar Cliff Saturday with 15 tackles, including seven solo. He registered 3.5 tackles for loss, covering 13 yards, and was responsible for recovering a botched hold on BCU’s go-ahead field goal attempt with 1:08 left in the game. For the season, Ellingson ranks 8th in the NAIA with 11.7 tackles per game and is 11th with 10 tackles for loss. The Jimmies have the week off before traveling to Dordt on October 20th. Kick off will be at 1 pm.

Special Teams – Izaak Myles (FR/Apple Valley, Calif.), Punter
Izaak Myles of Jamestown is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Myles had three of his four punts downed inside the 20-yard line, including one punt that was fumbled and recovered by the Jimmies at the 15-yard line. His punt early in the fourth quarter started Briar Cliff at the 4-yard line, and following a three-and-out, led to the Jimmies having a short field to score the eventual game-winning touchdown. The Jimmies have the week off before traveling to Dordt on October 20th. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
