Jamestown  (WDAY)  A report on WDAY has updated the standoff and home invasion in Jamestown early Sunday morning.

Reporter Nick Broadway reported that  several people in Jamestown say they didn’t notice a standoff because they slept through it. So did the suspect.

A man who lives there was inside, but family members next door were able to get him out.

When officers showed up, the suspect started barricading himself inside. Three intense hours went by and SWAT negotiators heard nothing from Chase Urie.

They then sent a robot inside to see if he was armed, however, Urie was having a long nap.

Jamestown Chief of Police Scott Edinger said, “That is probably why he was not talking.”

No weapons and not awake, SWAT officers decided it was safe to go inside and arrest him. Police say Urie was drunk, but because he was asleep for a while, they can’t accurately figure out how drunk he was.

They say Urie didn’t try to steal anything, but his break-in did cost $3,000 in damages.

The family invoked their Marsy’s Law rights and won’t be identified.

Forum News Service did talk to the victim’s mother off camera. She told Forum News Service they don’t know Urie or why he decided to break-in.

Neighbors told Forum News Service that they were either out of town, or they slept through it.

The report goes on to say, that Urie is a student at the University of Jamestown.

A Facebook profile with his name and hometown indicates Urie playing basketball with a Jamestown  basketball jersey.

He is not on the Jimmies roster for this season, but he is on last season’s JV roster.

Forum News Service got criminal documents, and according to them, Chase Urie thought he was at a friend’s house.

The documents show officers interviewed Urie sometime after they arrested him.

Urie said he was out drinking with some friends when at some point, he got dropped off. It was below freezing.

He claims he went inside the house, thought it was his friend’s place, and went to sleep.

He apparently does not remember getting undressed or seeing police show up.

Jamestown (UJ) On Sept. 27, 2018, UJ senior Josselyn Pacheco was awarded with the inaugural Knight Award, by UJ President, Dr. Polly Peterson.

As students at the University of Jamestown progress on their Journey to Success, there is often a student who is challenged with obstacles during his or her pursuit to graduation. This award recognizes the resilience the student demonstrated in overcoming difficult obstacles.

Dr. Peterson, who selected Pacheco, among numerous other nominees, as the award recipient, said, “I am so proud to award Josselyn with this inaugural Knight Award. Josselyn has persevered through challenges both in high school and at UJ, but her desire to achieve a college education drove her to overcome these challenges. Josselyn leads by example and gives her all to everything she does. I have no doubt she is going to be successful as she graduates from UJ and begins her career.”

Additional student award criteria includes: the student must be at least a junior or senior who is committed to becoming a UJ graduate; the student must be engaged in both curricular and co-curricular experiences on campus; and the student must have demonstrated resilience and grit in overcoming a personal situation or obstacle.

Pacheco was nominated to receive the award by her UJ wrestling coach, Shauna Kemp. In the nomination, Coach Kemp explained how Pacheco broke her hand in the beginning of their wrestling season and was unable to compete. “Instead of her backing away from the sport, she stayed involved and tried to improve herself in any way she could,” explained Kemp. “Josselyn juggled school, team time, student senate and had to work extra to pay off the medical bills she incurred from breaking her arm, and she did that all successfully.”

In addition to competing in wrestling, Pacheco has also served as President of the Jamestown Activities Board, orientation leader, a Resident Assistant, and a member of the student athlete advisory committee.

(AP) — Enbridge Energy has urged Minnesota regulators to stand by their decision to approve its proposal for replacing its aging Line 3 crude oil pipeline across northern Minnesota. The Calgary, Alberta-based company said in a filing Monday that the Public Utilities Commission should deny petitions for reconsideration filed earlier by environmental and tribal groups and the state Commerce Department. SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) — Minnesota Twins player Miguel Sano will not face criminal charges in the Dominican Republic as a result of his involvement in a traffic incident that injured a police officer, authorities said Monday.

Police said in a statement that the third baseman was released from custody after striking the officer with his car, leaving him with a broken leg outside a nightclub in San Pedro de Macoris early Sunday. They said officer Argenis Emilio Gillandeux was working outside the club Riversay when he was hit. Authorities said Sano was not carrying any identification and that his car was not registered.

Police spokesman Frank Duran told The Associated Press that Gillandeux said that “it was an involuntary accident, not intentional,” and he would not press charges.

Duran said that Sano would need to appear in traffic court, which would impose a fine and indemnity for the officer.

Earlier, a Twins spokesman said the ballclub was aware of the situation involving Sano and was gathering facts.

The 25-year-old Sano is a native of the Dominican Republic, where he lives when he is not playing.
