Oakes (NDHP) The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports one injury in a two vehicle crash, Tuesday, at 9:30-a.m., five miles south and two and half miles east of Oakes.
The report says a 1991 Freightliner, operated by 37 year old Daryell Simpson of Oakes was pulling a trailer loaded with soybeans, traveling westbound behind a combine, that was westbound on Dickey County Road 5, two and a half mils east of State Highway 1. The combine operated by 59 year old John Quandt was traveling partially off the roadway to provide space, for an uninvolved eastbound vehicle.
The semi rear ended the combine just after the uninvolved vehicle passed traveling the opposite direction. The semi impacted the header of
the combine which was elevated due to being partially off the roadway. Simpson was transported to Oakes Hospital by ambulance and later flown to Fargo for further treatment.
Assisting at the scene were: Dickey County SO, Oakes PD, Oakes Ambulance, Oakes Fire/Rescue.
The crash remains under investigation of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
