Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Council’s Police & Fire, and Public Works Committee also met Thursday evening at City Hall. All members were present.

PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE:
A recycling collection update was given by Recycle North Dakota’s Ralph Freibel. He said the recycling center is now located at the former Coke Plant in Southeast Jamestown. He said the equipment to separate the recyclables is still in the installation process. He said parking will be adjusted at the east side of the building as time goes on.
Then, a Garbage collection update was given by sanitation foreman Roger Mayhew.
He presented a map out-ling alleys where collection is problematic concerning safety issues with the new larger automated garbage trucks. He said recycling has also been notified of the map. Council Member Brubakken said the effected property owners will be notified of a meeting with garbage and recycling officials.
With implementing the optional walk up garbage pick up, the cost is $20 per month, collected at curb side. The service is geared for residents not able to move their garbage containers to the street or alley. Recycling issues with walk up are yet to be determined.
In other business:
The committee recommend approving Change Order No. 1, to Strata Corporation, for the 2018 Safe Routes to School Sidewalk District 18-21 (PCC Sidewalk, ADA Curb Ramps, and Incidental Items), for a net increase in the contract price of $2,219.88, and extending the completion date of the project by one day for the additional work.
The committee recommends approving considered Change Order No. 2, to Strata Corporation, for the 2018 Safe Routes to School Sidewalk District 18-21 (PCC Sidewalk, ADA Curb Ramps, and Incidental Items), for a net increase in the contract price of $4,446.20, to be completed in October or November, weather permitting.
Travis Dillman from Interstate Engineering gave an update on projects.He said the river cleaning is completed, along with the Safe Street to Schools project and the 5th Street project is completed, along with the Northwest watermain project. He added that the new wall has finished installation at Frontier Village.
