Howard Clarence Sukut was born on April 30, 1930 in Logan County, the son of Gottlob and Hulda Sukut. He attended the Logan County Country School by Lehr and later moved to Jamestown.

Howard had a strong zest for life. He married the love of his life, Arlene, in 1966 and together they raised two young girls. Howard’s kindness and love of people kept him busy working as Sukut Construction until his untimely death. Howard had a passion for hunting – his deer buddies will miss him greatly this year. He had a passion for gardening with produce looking like he fed them all steroids! He loved bowling and making wine which could cure the common cold in seconds!

Howard was a very dedicated member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where he held many positions throughout his years. In the eyes of the parishioners, he was a pillar of strength.

In the eyes of his family, he was an unending figure of strength, courage, bravery, and love. His love for family was strong and he enjoyed attending activities where family members were involved. His love for life gave his girls a passion to celebrate life and molded them into compassionate women.

Howard is survived by his daughters; Georgette Peterson, Newport, MN and Nichola (Tom) Kjelland, Valley City, ND, nine grandchildren; Cymmone Carson (Ryan Ziegler), Makana Peterson, Mariah (Adam) Edland, Natalie Monilaws (Jordan Pape), Mari (Chad) Schwind, Felicia (Jeremy) LaBrenz, LC, Ben (Amanda Adolph), and Katelyn Kjelland, and eight great-grandchildren, five sisters; Gladys Ley, Geraldine Guthmiller, Bonnie Smith, Marlys Sukut, Sharon Grant, and two brothers; Gary Sukut and Earl Sukut.
