Loren Roberts, 105, Jamestown, ND, died October 31, 2018 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Loren Mortimore Roberts was born July 22, 1913 on the family farm southwest of Eldridge in Lenton Township. He was the third of nine children born to Arthur and Clara (Bergh) Roberts. Loren attended country school in Lenton Township thru the eighth grade and Jamestown High School thru the ninth grade, while working hard on the family farm he grew up on. He entered Ave Maria Village in October, 2010 where he resided until his death.

Loren married Mavis Sizer on May 21, 1946 in Webster, SD. Together they purchased the family farm in Lenton Township, where they raised their family. They grew small grains and also raised beef and dairy cattle. Loren enjoyed music, and he was a lead member of the Roberts’ family band, later known as the Rhythm Rangers, in which he played guitar and four-string tenor banjo, playing for barn dances, weddings and other events from 1932 thru 1963. Loren loved farming, which he did actively for over 70 years. He also loved horses, and he enjoyed watching basketball, reading and reminiscing with family and friends about the past. Loren was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Jamestown and a lifetime member of The Elks, with 78 consecutive years of membership.

Loren is survived by a son, Dwight (Jennifer) Roberts; a daughter, Rita (James) Morris; and a granddaughter, Tara (Eric) Watne all of Jamestown. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Loren Keith Roberts and Randall “Randy” Roberts – both U.S. Navy Veterans who served in the Vietnam War; Mavis Roberts who passed away in 2015; six brothers, Roy, Alton, Vernon, Darrell, Perry and Corbett; two sisters, DeLois, who died in infancy; and Celeste Arnold.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2018 with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Chapel at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown with Deacon Ken Votava officiating. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery.
