Dennis Lee Kanwischer, 73, Jamestown, ND, died Friday morning, November 16, 2018 at his home under the care of hospice, after an over 3 years fight with lung cancer.Dennis was born September 16, 1945, in Carrington, ND, the son of Christ and Dora (Wachtel) Kanwischer.  He attended rural schools in the Carrington area his first seven grades and then graduated from Carrington High School in 1963.  He enlisted in the National Guard as a senior and served 6 months active duty in Fort Leonard Wood, MO and Fort Belvoir, VA, as well as 3 ½ years of monthly meetings and 4 years reserve duty.  Dennis graduated from North Dakota State School of Science in 1967 with a refrigeration, air conditioning and heating technology degree.  He spent one year working in Grand Forks before moving to Jamestown, where he worked at Smith Refrigeration for 15 years before forming a partnership of Mid State Refrigeration for 15 years.  After that, he worked at Jamestown Public Schools until his retirement in 2007.Dennis married Connie Bollinger on September 22, 1990 at the Ashley Baptist Church.  He enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends, watching the Vikings and going to casinos.  Dennis was a life member of the Elk’s and Eagle’s Clubs.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Connie, Jamestown; three sisters, Adeline Walen, Carrington, Mabel Duntley, Richardton, TX, and Donna Young, Eugene, OR; brother, Donald, Greensboro, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Henry, Robert, George, and Fred; two sisters, Emma Schultz and Elsie Veen.

 

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, with Pastor Kristi Weber officiating.

Visitation: 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 19, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
