Valley City  (VCPD)    The Valley City Police Department on Friday afternoon, updated the investigation into a shooting in the city, that occurred late Wednesday evening.

Police Chief, Phil Hatcher reports, that information in the case has been delayed due to the victim’s condition, and witness cooperation.

The victim, a 19 year old Valley City Man was shot one time in the upper body, and is in an area hospital recovering.

The shooting late Wednesday night was about 8-p.m.,  on the northeast part of town, near a school.

The suspect is known at this time, only as a black male with shoulder length dreadlocks, approximately five feet eleven inches tall, weighing  160 pounds.

At the time of the crime, the suspect was possibly wearing dark sweatpants and a crew neck sweatshirt.

The suspect left the scene in a lighter colored, possibly tan or light gold, late model Pontiac Grand Prix.

Further information is that the suspect may be from the Chicago area, but has associates in the Fargo-Moorhead area.  The report says that this act is not a random act crime, as the subjects involved know each other, and no known that to the public.

11:55 p.m. update: Valley City Police are now confirming that one person is being treated for gunshot wounds after a shooting Wednesday night on the northeast part of town.

The victim was transported to a Fargo hospital, but there’s no word on the man’s condition. No arrests have been made.

Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact them.

11 p.m. Update: Authorities in Valley City are telling convenience store clerks in town to be on the look-out for a black Trans Am with Illinois license plates.

Those clerks told Valley News Live that police made a point to stop by their store to alert them.

We’re told the officers dropped by that gas station some time before 10pm.

We’re getting word that the incident happened near a school and a grocery store in Valley City – and that police blocked off a large area.
