Jamestown (CSi) Starting February 1, 2019, Stutsman County will be changing its emergency notification service from CodeRED to a company called Everbridge. The transition to the new notification system began in early November and has been a continuous process ever since. CodeRED will continue to be utilized until the switch is made on February 1. In December, individuals receiving their annual property tax statements in the mail also received an insert briefly explaining the change in notification services.
Stutsman County Emergency Manager/9-1-1 Coordinator, Jerry Bergqist explains, as with CodeRED, all land-line phone numbers are automatically included in the new “Stutsman Alerts” system powered by Everbridge for emergency notifications. This does not include weather alerts.
If your land-line and/or cell phone was registered for weather alerts or emergency notifications through the CodeRED system, you will need to re-register to continue receiving those same notifications from the new “Stutsman Alerts” system powered by Everbridge.
Registration can be accomplished by going to the Stutsman County website (www.stutsmancounty.gov) and clicking on the “Stutsman Alerts” icons at the top or bottom of the page. For those without computer access, register by calling Stutsman County Emergency Management at 701-252-9093. There is no charge to register.
Jerry Bergquist, Stutsman County Emergency Manager, states, “Even after February 1 when the switch to the “Stutsman Alerts” system occurs, individuals will continue to be able to register their cell phones for emergency notifications. And, both land-lines and cell phones will continue to be able to register for as many as six types of weather alerts.”
Anyone with questions should contact Stutsman County Emergency Management at 701-252-9093.

Bismarck (CSi) The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission reports, North Dakota’s commercial service airports finished calendar year 2018 with a statewide total of 1,083,117 passenger boardings. This is a growth of 52,478 passengers or a 5% increase from 2017 numbers.
In 2018, the airports also saw 1,081,283 passenger deplanements for a grand total of 2,164,400 passengers that traveled through the commercial service terminal buildings of North Dakota over the past year.
Six of the eight commercial service airports in the state saw more passengers this past year than they did in 2017. The Bismarck and Devils Lake airports were also able to announce that they had each posted their highest annual airline passenger count on record in calendar year 2018.
Jamestown Regional Airport in 2018 saw 11,808 boardings surpassing the goal of 10,000 per year, but down from the 2017 Jamestown boardings at 12,865.
In December of 2018 Jamestown boardings were 907 compared to 924 in December of 2017, down 8.2 percent..
The Aeronautics Commission report says, the increased number of passengers throughout the state has allowed communities to attract and retain additional air service opportunities. 9 non-stop destinations (of which two are seasonal) are currently available to connect North Dakota to the rest of the world. All eight of the commercial service airports also continue to provide their communities with reliable jet service. The state is currently averaging approximately 55 airline flight departures per day with an estimated 3,800 available daily seats. The top destination airline passenger markets in 2018 for North Dakota travelers were as follows:
- Phoenix / Mesa, AZ Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX
- Las Vegas. NV Los Angeles, CA
- Denver, CO Chicago, IL
- Orlando / Sanford, FL Washington D.C – MD
- Minneapolis / St. Paul, MN Houston, TX
North Dakota Aeronautics Commission, Executive Director, Kyle Wanner says, “The increased utilization of aviation transportation within North Dakota shows that our airports continue to play an important role in providing efficient transportation options for our residents and visitors. North Dakota’s businesses compete within a global economy and the ability to connect our communities to the rest of the world allows our state to remain competitive. As efforts to diversify and grow North Dakota’s economy moves forward, the benefits that aviation transportation provides will continue to play a significant role.”

(CNBC) Former U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota announced Tuesday on Twitter she is starting a new job as a CNBC (CSi Cable 38) contributor.
Heitkamp, a Democrat was defeated in November 2018 in her re-election bid by Republican Representative Kevin Cramer.
Heitkamp tweeted on Tuesday, “Off to an interesting start! Looking forward to talking with you all as a @CNBC contributor. #NewBeginning.”
CNBC lists Heitkamp as a contributor on its website.
Last Saturday Heitkamp said she does not intend to run for governor in 2020 but would make “some announcement” this week about her plans.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Regulators say oil production in North Dakota declined slightly in November.
The state produced nearly 1.4 million barrels a day, a 1.2 percent drop as winter weather arrived and uncertainties developed about gas capture regulations. Mineral Resources director Lynn Helms says natural gas production dropped about 1.5 percent to 2.5 billion cubic feet per day.
The Bismarck Tribune says the industry flared 20 percent of Bakken gas in November, or 21 percent of gas statewide. The North Dakota Industrial Commission requires companies to limit flaring from Bakken wells to 12 percent. Operators missed the target for the seventh month in a row.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A company that provides clinical health care over the phone is opposed to legislation in North Dakota that would restrict telemedicine services.
The bill supported by the North Dakota Board of Medicine would require patients to have an initial in-person visit with a doctor or using video chat to establish an ongoing treatment plan, the Bismarck Tribune reported .
Dr. Donna Campell, a member of the Texas Senate and an emergency care physician who works with telemedicine company Teladoc, said providing clinical health care via phone is especially important for rural patients who live too far from a hospital and have no access to broadband internet.
Bonnie Storbakken, executive secretary of the North Dakota Board of Medicine, previously argued that the legislation will ensure patients can verify they’re being treated by a licensed doctor.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A woman who was fired from the Bismarck Police Department after 13 years on the force is suing the city and its former police chief for alleged gender discrimination and wrongful termination.
Robyn Krile claims the department took calculated measures to prevent her from advancing through the ranks and she seeks more than $100,000 in damages for pain and suffering, lost pay and other reasons.
Attorney Randall Bakke, who represents the city and now-retired Police Chief Dan Donlin, said Tuesday that “we don’t believe either her liability or damage claims have merit.”
Krile, who had achieved the rank of sergeant, was fired in March 2017 after a county prosecutor deemed her not to be a credible witness in court.
Krile alleges in her lawsuit that the department used “a systemic ruse of performance/supervisory/misconduct allegations to ‘devalue'” her and prevent her from advancing to the rank of lieutenant.
Tactics included changing promotion procedures, denying her training and purposely giving her low performance ratings during what she called unprofessional “war room” gatherings by superior officers, the lawsuit said.
