FREMONT, Neb. (uj.edu) — Maddie Egr scored six of her game-high 31 points in overtime as Midland (Neb.) University defeated the University of Jamestown women’s basketball team 67-61 Saturday afternoon.
Jamestown led 55-50 after Jenna Doyle (SR/Princeton, MN) made a pair of free throws with 29 seconds left in regulation.
On Midland’s next possession, Egr converted a three-point play to make it 56-55 Jimmies with 14 seconds to go.
After Doyle sank another pair of foul shots, UJ pushed their lead to 58-55. However, Lexis Haase drained a three-pointer to tie the game with four seconds left, completing the Warriors’ fourth-quarter rally.
In the extra session, the Jimmies went just 1-for-6 and turned the ball over three times, while Egl scored Midland’s first six points to give the Warriors a 64-61 advantage.
The first quarter featured eight lead changes as Midland led 13-11 heading to the second. Jamestown clamped down on defense in the second quarter, holding the Warriors to only four points, none in the final 6:36 of the first half. UJ led 25-17 at the break.
Noelle Josephson (FR/Ramsey, MN)’s three-point play gave the Jimmies their largest lead of the contest, 30-18 with 8:08 in the third quarter. A 12-2 Midland run over the next 4:07 made it a single-possession game at 32-30, and momentum appeared to be shifting to the home team’s side.
Jamestown scored 10 of the next 15 points and led 49-41 at the 7:09 mark following a three-pointer by Allison Jablonsky (JR/Blaine, Minn.). Another Warrior run brought them within a point, 49-48, with 4:35 in the fourth.
Doyle finished with 16 points to led the Jimmies. Josephson was also in double figures with 14. Emma Stoehr (SO/Woodbury, MN) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, and along with Josephson dished out five assists.
Egl recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds and was joined in double digits by Haase with 10.
UJ was 23-of-52 (44.2%) from the field, but just 2-for-13 (15.4%) from three-point range. The Jimmies outrebounded Midland 33-29 but turned the ball over 18 times to the Warriors’ 11.
Jamestown (12-13, 6-11 GPAC) return home to host Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University Monday at 6 p.m. Midland (14-11, 9-10 GPAC) is at Dordt (Iowa) next Saturday.

FREMONT, Neb. (uj.edu) — Kevin Oberweiser (SR/Drummond, MT) scored 30 points, 28 of them in the first half, while making eight three-pointers as the 18th-ranked University of Jamestown men’s basketball team defeated Midland (Neb.) University 92-70 Saturday afternoon.
Oberweiser made 10 of his 13 first-half field goal attempts, including 8-of-10 three-point tries, as the Jimmies took a 53-43 lead at halftime. The eight three-pointers is tied for the second-most in a single game, and was last accomplished by Sam Johnson against Morningside (Iowa) on December 30, 2015.
Jamestown opened the game with a 9-2 run on the strength of three straight Oberweiser triples. He connected on each of his first six long-range shots, and hit the 20-point mark with 8:55 left in the first half as UJ led 35-23.
The Jimmies’ largest lead of the first half came with 6:54 remaining as another Oberweiser trey made it 42-25. Midland cut the lead to single digits with just over one minute to play on a jumper by Isaiah Workman.
In the second half, the Warriors managed to get within six points at 55-49, but Jamestown responded with a 20-4 run to break the game open. The Jimmies’ lead would remain between 20 and 26 points for the rest of the contest.
Terrell Alfred (JR/Orlando, FL) made 4-of-5 three-pointers off the bench and finished with 18 points. Brock Schrom (SO/Grand Rapids, MN) added 14 and Jack Talley (SO/Sioux Falls, SD) 10. Oberweiser, Schrom, and Talley each grabbed four rebounds. Isaiah Dobson (JR/Stillwater, MN) added six assists.
Workman had 20 to lead Midland, who also got double figure point performances from Luke Cadzow (12) and Dillon Faubel (10).
The Jimmies shot 59.4 percent overall and 59.3 percent from three. They also outrebounded the Warriors 28-24.
Next up for Jamestown (22-4, 12-4 GPAC) is a home game against No. 17 Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University Monday at 8 p.m.
