Delton Guthmiller, 67, of Medina, ND, passed away Monday afternoon, February 4, 2019 at Sanford Health, Bismarck, ND.Delton Guthmiller, son of Paul and Freda (Morlock) Guthmiller, was born June 1, 1951 and raised on the family farm northwest of Pettibone, ND.  He helped his family on the cream collection routes at a young age and worked steady ever since.  The family moved to Medina in the mid-1960s and Delton was drafted to the US Army in February 1971.  He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in April 1972.  Delton and Jocelyn “Joey” Martel were united in marriage on September 26, 1973 at Forman, ND.  He operated his own blacksmith shop in Medina since 1980.  Delton also worked for Melrose, Guthmiller Earthmovers, and as a welder for Duratech until his retirement at age 65.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, auction sales, his cabin at Lake Williams, collecting guns, and visiting the local pubs.Delton is survived by his wife, Joey Guthmiller; sons, Jeremy Guthmiller, Derek Guthmiller, and Kirk Guthmiller; grandchildren, Kruz, Jordan, Seth, and Journey; sisters, Gloria (Dennis) Dollinger and Patricia (Pete) McConville; brother, Gene (Brenda) Guthmiller; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Freda Guthmiller; step-mother, Sally Van Eaton; brother, Marlyn; nephew, Kevin; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

 

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 at English Lutheran Church, Medina, with Pastor Lynn Schultz officiating.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.

Spring Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina.
