Allan Pruss (JR/Red Deer, Alberta) scored twice and Phoenix McElroy-Scott (SR/Morden, Manitoba) also had a goal as the University of Jamestown hockey team won its third straight game, 3-2 over the University of Colorado Thursday night at Wilson Arena.
Pruss put the Jimmies on the scoreboard at 14:09 of the first on assists by Michael Pruss (JR/Red Deer, Alberta) and Kyle Baron (JR/Abbotsford, British Columbia).
Baron would set up Pruss again at 3:39 of the second, breaking a 1-1 tie. It was the second two-goal game for Pruss this season, and his fourth goal in his last four contests.
The lead grew to 3-1 as McElroy-Scott scored on assists by Cayle Bell (JR/Fort St. John, British Columbia) and Ned Simpson (JR/Kitchener, Ontario). The goal was McElroy-Scott’s third of the season.
Colorado would pull within one at 13:37 of the third, and later pulled goaltender Jake Cerullo for an extra attacker with 1:24 left.
Tyson Brouwer (JR/Lethbridge, Alberta) made 32 saves in the win. Cerullo finished with 30 stops.
Jamestown was 1 for 6 on the power play while Colorado went 0 for 3.
The Jimmies are off Friday before a weekend series with Williston State College. Saturday’s game is set for 7 p.m. while Sunday’s start time is 2 p.m.
