In Jamestown Saturday evening Cameron Todd (JR/Burraneer, Australia) and Cole McKechney (JR/Calgary, Alberta) each netted two goals while Tyler Chavez-Leech (SO/Red Deer, Alberta) and Michael Brayson (JR/Bakersfield, Calif.) also scored as the University of Jamestown hockey team won its fourth straight game, a 6-1 decision over Williston State at Wilson Arena Saturday night.

Just 1:28 separated first-period goals by Todd and McKechney as the Jimmies led 2-0 after one. Jason Richter (JR/Cranbrook, British Columbia) and Tyler Chavez-Leech helped set up Todd’s goal while Todd and Trevor Okino (JR/Richmond, British Columbia) got the helpers on McKechney’s power play goal.

Chavez-Leech made it 3-0 at 8:15 of the second. Okino and Dylan Haney (SO/Brandon, Manitoba) got the assists on UJ’s second goal with the man advantage.

The lead grew to 4-0 at 13:26 with Brayson’s first goal as a Jimmie. He was assisted by Todd and Jeremy McNeil (JR/Calgary, Alberta).

McKechney netted his second power play goal of the game at 17:15 as Jamestown took a 5-0 lead. Okino and Carter Johnson (FR/Meeteetse, Wyo.) were credited with the assists.

Williston State scored a power play goal of its own at 8:26 of the third by Austin Weber, cutting the Jimmies’ lead to 5-1.

Todd answered one minute and thirteen seconds late with his second of the game and Jamestown’s fourth power play tally, making it 6-1. Okino and Jake Hepburn (JR/Denville, N.J.) got the assists.

David Anderson (JR/Santa Clarita, Calif.) stopped 39 of the 40 shots he faced in the victory. James Grosklaus had 42 saves for the Tetons.

WSC was whistled for 17 penalties covering 66 minutes, while the Jimmies committed 15 penalties for 57 minutes.

Jamestown (14-11-0-1) and Williston State (14-16-3-0) will conclude their weekend series Sunday afternoon at Wilson Arena. Game time is 2:00 p.m.

Dylan Haney (SO/Brandon, Manitoba) recorded a hat trick and seven other players scored a goal as the University of Jamestown hockey team cruised to a 10-2 win over Williston State College Sunday afternoon at Wilson Arena.

Haney scored twice in the first period and again in the second to post the fourth hat trick in program history, and the second this season.

Allan Pruss (JR/Red Deer, Alberta) finished with a goal and three assists while Jeremy McNeil (JR/Calgary, Alberta), Michael Pruss (JR/Red Deer, Alberta), Phoenix McElroy-Scott (SR/Morden, Manitoba), and Garret Browning (JR/Winnipeg, Manitoba) all had a goal and a helper.

Haney’s two-goal first period was supported by scores from Michael Pruss and Cole Sonstebo (SR/Fergus Falls, Minn. ), and UJ led 4-0 heading into the second.

Thomas King got the Tetons on the board at 4:54 of the second, but Jason Richter (JR/Cranbrook, British Columbia), McElroy-Scott, and Haney countered to make it 7-1 after two.

Browning and McNeil netted power play goals to open the third, then Allan Pruss scored at even strength to push the advantage to 10-1.

King scored his second of the game, this time on the power play, as the game finished 10-2.

Sherman Lovett (SR/Miami, Fla.), Carter Johnson (FR/Meeteetse, Wyo.), Bryan Kromm (JR/Stockton, Calif.), Josh Stephens (FR/Bayreuth, Germany), Kyle Baron (JR/Abbotsford, British Columbia), Ned Simpson (JR/Kitchener, Ontario), Michael Brayson (JR/Bakersfield, Calif.), Dylan Ossachuck, and Josh DeCarolis (FR/Wilbraham, Mass.) all had assists for the Jimmies as 17 players tallied a point.

David Anderson (JR/Santa Clarita, Calif.) started in goal for Jamestown and played the first 29:44, making 21 saves on 22 shots. Ossachuck played the remaining 30:16 and had 25 saves.

After scoring four times on the power play Saturday night against Williston State, the Jimmies went 3-for-7 on Sunday with the man advantage. The Tetons finished 1-for-8 with the extra man.

Jamestown, now 15-11-0-1 on the season, will be at Arizona State February 14 and Nevada-Las Vegas February 15-16 before hosting Missouri State University for a weekend series beginning February 21.
