ASHLEY, N.D. (AP) — Patients and nursing home residents at the Ashley Medical Center have been displaced because of a fire.

They were evacuated to a parking garage Tuesday after the facility caught fire. Buses and ambulances then transported the patients and residents to other facilities in the region.

Fire damage is not extensive, but smoke damage will keep the facility closed for a few days.

The hospital reports that emergency care is being diverted to Wishek Hospital for now. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The displaced patients and residents were taken by ambulance and bused to other facilities while the building was being cleaned up from smoke damage.

Reports say damage is not extensive, but patients and nursing home residents have been displaced due to smoke damage. Volunteers helped evacuate residents to an unconnected parking garage before moving them to other facilities in the region.
