Archie Sveum, 92, of Jamestown, ND, passed away peacefully February 12, 2019 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.

Archie James Sveum was born on March 21, 1926 in Rugby, ND, the son of John and Elma (Randberg) Sveum. He attended Rugby High School and later continued his education at Minot Business College. Archie enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and served two years before being discharged in 1946. He took great pride in being a Veteran and serving his country.

Archie married Eunice Jelsing on October 21, 1951 at Berwick Lutheran Church in Berwick, ND.  They celebrated their 65th anniversary in October of 2016. Eunice passed away on June 10, 2017. They lived in Rugby for a number of years where he was employed as an accountant for Grunvold and McGuire Auto Dealerships. Their family moved to Jamestown in 1961, where they permanently made their home. Archie worked for a number of years at Midway Chevrolet before becoming a self-employed accountant.

Archie enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, and meeting new friends. He always took great ownership and was proud of showing off his garden. He loved Blue Jay and Jimmie basketball as well as the Minnesota Twins. Archie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion, VFW, and the DAV. He touched many hearts with his contagious smile and ability to make anyone laugh. Archie was genuinely devoted to his family, friends, and will be truly missed.

Archie is survived by his three sons, Curt (Margaret) Sveum of Fargo, ND, Roger Sveum of Orlando, FL, and Jay Sveum of Jamestown, ND; Six grandchildren, Molly, Kelly (Josh) Collins, John, Matthew, Lexi, and Christopher; Two greatgrandchildren, Lucas and Layla.

He was preceded in death by his wife Eunice; his parents; three sisters, Lorraine Ekren, Elda Mae Tuchscherer and Marlene Gilje; two brothers, Merlin and Rolland Sveum, and daughter in law, Mary Sveum.

The Sveum family would like to express our utmost appreciation to the staff at Ave Maria Village for their wonderful care and kindness toward Archie and Eunice.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Friday, February 15, at Good Shepherd Chapel, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown ND with Deacon Ken Votava officiating.

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 14, at Good Shepherd Chapel, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.

Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 14, at Good Shepherd Chapel, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.

Burial will be at a later date at Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby, ND.
