Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Jamestown Area Grief Support Team (JAGST) is hosting a “Good Mourning” Brunch at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Farmer’s Union Insurance Building, 1415 12thAvenue SE.
Special guest speaker will be Pastor Doug Opp from Audubon, Iowa. Pastor Opp and his wife, Julie have worked with congregations in northern California, western Iowa, Jamestown, ND and suburbs of Chicago, IL. Pastor Opp hosted one of the first grief support groups in the Jamestown area.
In his presentation entitled “Moving Beyond Grief”, Opp will discuss grief as a normal response to change and loss in daily life. Our reaction to grief often determines if we become better or bitter. The goal of this presentation is to encourage those who are grieving, as well as those who are companioning those who are grieving, and let them know that there are helpful choices we can make as we journey through grief.
The Jamestown Area Grief Support Team has been working in the community since 2002 and offers support to those who have experienced the death of a loved one. JAGST offers educational programs, grief support groups, a yearly service of remembrance and an annual weekend Widow’s Retreat.
The brunch is free of charge but tickets are required. To request a ticket, please contact Kathy 952-8001, Carol at 320-3801 or Brenda at 252-1198.
