Jamestown  (AP)  A North Dakota lawmaker accused of drunken driving has pleaded guilty to reckless driving. Republican Rep. Craig Headland, of Montpelier, was pulled over in October in Stutsman County on Interstate 94.  Troopers say Headland refused a field chemical test and was arrested for driving under the influence. That charge was dropped under the plea agreement.

Judge Troy LeFevre ordered Headland to pay a $500 fine and $250 in fees. He must perform 40 hours of community service and obtain a chemical dependency evaluation. He is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms for 360 days.

Headland was first elected to the state House in 2002. He was running for re-election at the time of the arrest.

Headland declined to comment Saturday to The Associated Press.
