Jamestown  (CSi)  The Jamestown Public School Board on Monday discussed  making up three inclement weather no-school days. School was called off those days due to dangerously cold wind chills, or heavy snowfall amounts.

Superintendent Rob Lech said the plan includes making up  the January 29-30 no school days on April 22 and May 24, respectively.

If the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction does not grant a waiver for a February. 7 no-school day, that  would be made up on March 14.

In other business,

Vice president and marketing chair of the Jamestown Dollars for Scholars Board,  DeAnn Ament, gave information on the annual shoe drive to support local scholarships and microentrepreneur programs in impoverished nations.

7,500 pairs of shoes through the end of April this year will form three $1,000 scholarships for graduating Jamestown seniors.

She added that around 1,000 shoes have been collected since the drive started on February first. 1, and are stored at R.M. Stoudt.

 

Superintendent  Lech said that middle school teacher, Kristi Hanson, has been  was selected as one of 10 North Dakota social studies and cultural studies teachers to receive a Global Bridges fellowship study tour of Saxony, Germany, from March 29 to April 7.

It was reported that a notice of intent to negotiate with the Jamestown Education Association has a March 4 deadline.
