– Over $10K raised for Mary’s Place

Jamestown (CSi) SAFE Shelter in Jamestown announces a successful Rabbit Run and Bunny Hop that was held at the University of Jamestown, and Harold Newman Arena on April 20^th this year.

SAFE Shelter, Director, Lynn Talley says, 159 individuals signed up to participate, and raised $10,270 for Mary’s Place.

She points out that Mary’s Place opened in September of 2018, and since that time has provided 947 shelter nights for victims of domestic violence, and their children.

Mary’s Place gives them a safe place to begin to rebuild their lives and look for safe and affordable housing on their own.

(CSi) SAFE Shelter announces the 2nd Annual Rabbit Run & Bunny Hop Fundraiser to benefit Mary’s Place will be held Sat April 20 at the UJ Harold Newman Arena.

On Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, SAFE Shelter, Director, Lynne Talley said, Mary’s Place has been available for about a year. It offers temporary safe housing for victims of domestic violence, and their children and provides a place of them to heal and plan for the future.

SAFE Shelter works with several agencies, including social services, the Sexual Assault Response Team, local law enforcement, the prosecutor’s office.

She added, that SAFE Shelter is expanding its prevention programs, which includes the Safe Dates program, in the Jamestown Middle School, and Jamestown High School.

Registration for the event, is $25 for adults, and includes a t-shirt, and $5 for children under 12 years old, but does not include a t-shirt. Check in is at 8:15 a.m., and the run will start at 9-a.m., sharp.

There will be a 5K Rabbit Run/Walk, for the more serious runners and walkers, with prizes for the first three finishers.

The family fun 3K Bunny Hop Run/Walk will wind through the UJ Campus and will include sponsored booths with goodies for the kids. Both routes will start and end at Harold Newman Arena.
