TUCSON, Ariz.  (uj.edu)— The 24th-ranked University of Jamestown softball team improved its record at the Tucson Invitational Games to 7-3 after winning a pair of games Wednesday, 10-2 over Presentation (S.D.) College and 5-2 over Dakota State (S.D.) University.

Jamestown is now 13-6 this season and will play Bethel (Ind.) College and Madonna (Mich.) on Thursday.

Miriah Yoder (SR/Devils Lake, ND) was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and Morgan Geiszler (SO/Horace, ND) went 3-for-3 and knocked in a pair of runs in the Jimmies’ 10-2 five-inning win over Presentation. The Jimmies scored two runs in each inning before ending the game via the eight-run rule.

Allie McCain (SR/Duvall, WA) registered two hits as UJ finished with 13 in the game. Yoder, Geiszler, Santina Zito (FR/Boise, Idaho), and Lorigan Steuben (FR/Yacolt, Wash.) all doubled.

Katie Merchant (FR/South Haven, Minn.) allowed one run on three hits over three innings to pick up the win. Meghan Ramage (SR/Grand Forks, ND) worked the final two innings in relief.

Against Dakota State, Jamestown took a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth before finishing with a 5-2 win.

Mariah Martinez (FR/Visalia, Calif.) scored on Morgan Geiszler‘s one-out double in the first for a 1-0 Jimmie lead. Allie McCain singled in two runs while Steph Cota (FR/Tucson, Ariz.) drove in another as part of UJ’s three-run fourth inning. McCain went 3-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI.

Katie Reisdorfer (SO/Fresno, CA) brought in Jamestown’s final run with a one-out single in the top of the fifth.

Kat Miska (SO/Pequot Lakes, MN) went the distance in her fourth complete game of the season. She struck out 12 batters and allowed two runs on nine hits.

After Thursday’s doubleheader, Jamestown concludes its Arizona trip Friday with a single game against Park (Mo.) at 10:00 a.m.
